Is it better to practice regularly but do shorter sessions, or is it more advantageous to do long averages: e.g. 200 300 solves but less regularly. The second option might be preferable because you get the chance to take a break which is considered to be helpful. However maybe the first option would be more efficient because you are solving on a more regular basis.

For me, doing regular sessions daily helps, but maybe 1-3 times a month, I'll do 200+ solves in a day. I've never really tried just long sessions with breaks between though, it seems weird.

I've thought about this quite a bit. I think consistency is key on whatever level. I find that if I can do 20 solves a day consistently for 30 days, I improve much much more than if I just do 200 solves once a week in a single session. I get the impression that the fastest people in the world are the ones who consistently do large amounts, like several hundred solves almost everyday for a year+.

Consistently seems to keep recognition improving, speed improving, algs. getting faster, etc. Without consistency, for me, these things are lost (I forget algs, take longer to recognize, don't turn as fast, etc.).

It is an interesting topic indeed.

But what about the argument that if you take a break for a while, when you come back you will remember only the important F2L tricks etc. and you will forget the things that disturb your solve? I think taking breaks can refine your knowledge to only the things you require.

I have only been speedcubing for 3 months and for the first month I only did like 40 solves a day. But now for the past 2 months I have been doing around 200 solves a day, not because I choose to, but because time flies by and I don't realize how many solves I've done. For me large sessions everyday have brought my average down to 18 seconds but I think it works differently for different people. Some people might benefit by only doing frequent short sessions everyday. It really depends.

You're lucky because you have the time to do 200 a day but the question is, what is the most efficient for people who do not have as much time to cube.

i havent really been timing myself for a few months now ive just been picking up a cube and doing a few slow solves (trying to do 2 f2l pairs blindfolded) and my times seem to have dropped from about avg 26 to avg 20 in 2ish months

if i seriously practiced id probably be sub 20 by now

and another thing ive noticed, when im not warmed up i get terrible times of 23+ and mess up/lock up alot, but when i warm up i can get like 17 sec solves easily as im alot more accurate and my tps almost doubles. idk why
