Trying to show that F' U' F is faster than y' R' U' R is faster on a stackmat only works if you ignore whether it disrupts the flow of the solve or not and whether it's inefficient for your fingers to regrip like that. Sometimes after some f2l cases your hands just aren't near enough to the F' U' F position to warrant using it, and it might be better to do a quick d'...

I found out what you meant by using d'.

d' U L' U' L

This is pretty cool thing I learned :D

i use all of them but there is also a way with no rotation without doing the nasty F moves. its in the video below

Ok someone needs to lock this thread lol. I am using the F2L wiki and going through the F2Ls and marking which ones I do bad so that way I don't make bad habits.

There are some pretty cool things in F2l O_O

Faz said you should learn algorithms for the harder cases. And besides my move count is 80

Then think more. Seriously, if you want to get better, just cube. Stop making threads. Just. Cube.

Lol panda, your signature is funny.

y L' U L:
avg5: 0.80

y' R' U R:
avg5: 0.73

F' U' F:
avg5: 0.51

I use F' U F because I don't need to rotate.

I guess F' U' F isn't as slow as you think. Did you even time the triggers? Or did you just make stupid comments without checking?

You hit the nail right on the head. Real speed is in the timer, not as perceived by our minds.

Well, you are a beginner, so how would you know what F2L triggers are bad? And I still don't like how you said F' U' F was slow!

If I could have possibly agreed with anything you said so far, your comment I quoted above is so true.

It depends on where the next f2l pair I see is, if I'm done 2, and doing F U F' will leave me with one f2l pair left in the front right slot then of course I would just do that, but if the last slot would be in back left slot then I would just rotate and use R U R' that way the last slot is on the front face.

But you should only use VHF2L if you don't know all the OLLS or you get an easy case.

Or if you know ZBLL. Just sayin

And I think B moves would be fast for a left handed person.

umm, what? The B fact is equally close to the left and right hands, how would being left-handed have anything to do with B moves?

Real speed is in the timer, not as perceived by our minds.

Or real speed is how much actually doing F' U' F without rotating can interrupt the flow of the solve.

Unless I use my thumbs, F' U' F requires a regrip for me. Do I hold the cube wrong? I hold it with my thumbs on FL and FR, and my fingers on the back face.
I'm not sure if doing it with my thumbs is faster than rotating.
