I've been cubing leisurely for four years (took a year break after two years, so I got back to cubing a year ago), not working on anything in particuular. I made a decision that I want to be at least sub-30 when I stop cubing. I am using Fridrich and have an average in the low 40's (From 42 to 45, sometimes a little over). My best solve (I don't remember if It was lucky or not) was just above 30 seconds. My solve speeds are somtimes erratic, though. I know the 2-look OLL and the 2-look PLL with a few regular PLLs.
I was thinking about switching to Roux. Because I'm used to the Fridrich F2L, I find the block building hard, but the LSE isn't too bad, considering Roux is new to me.
My block building takes 40-50 seconds, so I'm hesitant to switch to Roux. My best solve was about 1:16 with Roux, and I use the OLL and PLL from Fridrich to orient and permute the top 4 corners. I want to switch methods, but I'm not sure if I should or not.

Which method should I use? Or should I get to know both?
(I use a storebought Rubik's cube, but I bought a Dayan Guhong that's coming in tommorow. My storebought isn't bad, but it isn't the best either. It's tight, and mediocre in speed.)

Well, If you have time on your hands and you are usually bored, learn roux because it takes a long time to learn. Since you know fridrich, Roux should be fun to learn since it's so different (You can compare). Or you can master fridrich and then learn roux.

I think I'll do that. Master Fridrich, then learn Roux. That was something that I was considering...

Roux is a pain in the ass to be good with it. That's what usually turns off people about it. And why a lot of people don't stick with it. But you'll benefit in the long run as you see the cube differently than you would with only CFOP

XD I learned from your tutorials... Yeah, I can tell it'll take a lot of effort to improve, so... I actually learned a while back, but forgot how.

I learned CFOP before I even heard of Roux, when I heard of Roux I got interested and started learning it.
I believe you can master them both but it may be harder,
And btw Block Building is extremely similar to F2L, just without 2 edges.

I was in the same position as you a few months ago! Roux is completely different to fridrich, except maybe you can carry over the j perm but building blocks like F2L will work sometimes, but sometimes there's a quicker way. If you are going to switch, you will need to 'start again'... But if you're sick of fridrich like I was, give roux a go.

Learn the basics of many methods and decide which you like the best. I find Roux to be more fun.

I know the basics of Petrus (minus last layer), the ZZ, Fridrich, and Roux. I learned with beginner (Dan Brown's). I learned Fridrich first after Beginner, so I stuck with that.

Any method can be fun; it depends on the person and how much work you want to put into something. Go with whatever appeals to you the most; just don't, for example, go for ZB if you aren't willing to learn a lot of algs.
