Super Square 1 or 2? Plus Question

Hi all,

I would like to know what is the name of a puzzle that looks like a square-1 but have 4 layers and a cylinder as the center piece? Some say super square 1 or super square 2 and it is kinda hard to find solution on the web if I can't get the names correct.

However, in addition, since I am already here, I would like to know the easiest way to solve it? Thanks a lot guys!!

That's the Super Square-1. The Square-2 has 12 pieces on each layer instead of 8, so the Super Square-2 would also have 12 pieces on each layer.

Here's what I would say is the easiest solution: notice that the two outer layers, and the two inner layers, each function like a Square-1. So first solve the two outer layers using a Square-1 solution. Next, for the inner layers, bring the puzzle to cube shape and then solve the corners. The edges are tricky because you can't tell what layer they go on. You will need one extra alg for the edges: to move an edge from the front part of the top layer into the front part of the bottom layer (while messing up the top layer a little), you can use /(3,0)/(0,3)/(1,0)/(0,-1)/(0,1)/(-1,-3)/(-3,0)/.

Throwing it in the bin or giving it away are good solutions. I took the latter option. I intuitively solved the outer layers which took me a couple of hours, but it probably would've been mins if I could turn the thing easily.

Hello, I have another question.

I tried using square-1 solution but I don't understand how big is 30 degrees (since SS-1 do not have the big and small piece). I tried to use the edge as the guideline i.e. one edge to another edge is 90 deg so 1/3 of the way (whenever it coincides) is 30 deg. But I always messed it up.

I get how the alg that qqwref gave me. But I am wondering how I can manage to swap the corner piece now. And since your alg messed my top, can I fix it using whatever top corner swap in cubezone?
