What the topic says.
I average around ~27 seconds and my PB is 17.193.
I know all the PLL's and about half of the OLL's.

It's been said many times, competitions are available for all people and they're equally fun for anyone who can solve a cube as long as you have a positive attitude.

I'm talking about a semi-serious competition, not just "Oh look, he can solve a Rubik's Cube.. *walks away*"

Don't stress your times and go have fun. That's my plan for Cornell even though I'll probably stress my times and then fail. Just say hi and introduce yourself to some other cubers. Race them, compare puzzles, learn some new stuff. Competitions aren't a high stress environment unless it's a big competition and you have a chance to win. Not to sound mean but that just won't happen with a 27 average. Nobody will really even be watching you solve. It's not a big deal just go an and have.

This probably should be under the one answer question thread. But anyway, just look through some results of competitions and see what people have gotten. I believe last year at the Oklahoma Open we had a limit of 3 minutes. You are going to be surprised by how little people care about your times. Even the top people at our competition didn't get an audience. Most people are too busy warming up or socializing to worry about other people's times.

Yeah, I was about to say that disclaimer, but I thought it was generally understood. Plus, I believe Faz is referenced on about 1 out of every 10 posts already. We have Anthony, and he's great to watch, but it's not like we are crowding around him and cheering on every solve.

I avg'd around 55 sec. at my first competition and 28 sec. at my second competition... I go mostly because I get to meet other cubers, and do other things too.

I agree as long as you can stackmat a solve you're good to go.

If you want a serious answer, I believe that if you are serious about competing and actually placing well. (At least making it into the final round for 3x3) Average about ~16-17 sec. That is a respectable time and could put you in finals and even place you depending on the competition. Just go to have fun though and interact with other cubers, that seems to be a lot of the fun.

A lot of it depends on when your comp is coming up. I have nearly two months untill my first comp so sub-20 is a very reasonable goal for me. If you average 30 and you first comp is in a week then I wouldn't hold my breath.

i think i will be going to 1 in about 2 months and i average 27-29 so i dunno if i can get better still struggling to have sub 30 averages

Um I haven't done break downs in awhile but it's probably someplace around 11-13 seconds. My LL is holding me back a ton. Full OLL plus sub-2ing all PLLs will probably get me to 18 seconds without too much trouble at all since some of my PLLs are obnoxiously slow. Like sup-3

i thinkits my last layer and cross that holds me back my F2L is about 10-13 seconds but my cross is above 6 seconds andmy LL is about 13+

i dont really solve the entire cube i just practice my lookahead in f2l

Yeah, I went to my first comp a few weeks ago and I met Ryan and Eric Reese, they are really cool, and I also met cookiyo who is really cool too! I also met many other great people like Baian Liu. Don't worry about your times trust me the only ones watching are the people who brought you unless you are extremely known to have an extremely fast average. Oh and I also met Ethan Crisplip (nlCuber) and I thought he was cool even though it looked like he didn't like me much. Oh and one more thing. Don't be a clinger they are extremely disliked.... I had about 3 or 4 of them and I really wanted to tell them to stop talking to me but I didn't want to sound mean.
