I'm trying to learn the Ortega method on my 2x2, my times increased significantly, as i expected, but i've been practicing for hours and they haven't moved. How much better is ortega than the LBL method and how long does it take until I finally get decent times again? If it helps, Im colour neutral

Look at how fast you can buld a full layer.
Then look at how fast you can build a face.
The difference in those times is the difference between ortega and LBL.

Practice is the key. When I first learned Ortega, my times increased as well. As time went on, I figured out little tips and tricks for myself to get faster. One of the most important things is the fingertricks. Because 2x2 times are pretty short, fingertricks and how you can preform the moves is key. Also, being able to quickly recognize what you are going to do is very important. The slightest hesitation can screw your times.

What kind of 2x2 do you have? I suggest getting a screw spring 2x2 (Ghost hand, lan lan, maru). Try for faster turning. Know what kind of first layer you're building (Solved, two adjacent corners switched two diagonal corners switched) during inspection.
