turning speed

ok, you got some pretty nice cubes, you should learn fingertricks.

If he didn't know finger tricks, how could he have a 24 average?
Peeling the stickers.

Seriously, are you TRYING to **** me off?

Lol. anyway back on topic, 3.5 is pretty good, if you want to get better i think advanced fingertricks will help.

What are these advanced fingertricks you speak of? I didn't think fingertricks could get any more advanced. (Cept for Teller :p)

When i say advanced i mean like combos and like really hard ones.

does that mean that everytime you lock up its a

C-C-C-C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!

?
Well yeah, kinda.

I got 10.08 first try.
55 moves / 5.45 TPS
Its all just practice I guess.

I don´t think so. PLL attacks for example. Cubers with very fast turning speed can execute it in 30-35 seconds. I highly doubt that it is just practice. It must be in the genes, you need fast finger muscles.

Mmmm, yea, my best PLL time attack is like 1:25 :fp

Yea I think so too. I heard when Breandan was born his mom gave him a cube and he did sub-30 PLL attack with it instantly.

I don't think fast turning is genetic. Perhaps at the very highest end of ability (7-8 tps) there is an element, but to be able to turn at 5 or so tps really does just require solid practice.

I don't mean practice by 'do 200 solves', btw. I mean practice as in 'analyse your turning style, compare it to other solvers, attempt to emulate them, repeat algorithms with different turning styles etc'.

EDIT:
Right, I just watched myself do a T perm and looked at each individual element of each turn, as in, which fingers I used for each one, how much my wrist moved etc, and none of each constituent part was moving particularly quickly at all. As far as I can see turning fast is just a combination of finger flicks that anybody can do and standard speed wrist rotation, done with precision and good timing.

Everyone who has an average above 10 seconds at 3x3x3 are lazy, because they have not practiced enough with look ahead and the turning speed.
Everyone can run as fast as Usain Bolt too, all you need is practice.

Hmm, is that a reply to me?

Since I said nor implied anything like that. If you want a tl;dr: copy fast people.

Anyone can get sub-10 average if they're dedicated and practise long enough. Sure, it may take talent to get there faster, but hey, you'll never know how much effort the so called 'talented' people put into their practise. They may learn new tricks and better algs rather than people who just blindly solve 1000 times a day. You may need some talent in looking ahead, but anybody can get there if they practise long enough.

Same thing goes with turning speed, people don't just have the genes to 'turn faster'. If you notice, most people who get 30-35s PLL attacks either do it frequently, or are already sub-10 or faster in 3x3 and thus have the turning accuracy and speed out of practice alone.

I use 3-look LL by the way.

I'm still a noob, so take this with a grain of salt, but I would recommend learning at least the easy OLL's, some of them are really short and super easy to learn and recognise. So even if you don't want to go full one look OLL, you can still know a few and pull them off if you see them.

I'm going to assume you are just trolling.

I think it was a reply to Waffle for saying:

You're being lazy if you think that you can't turn fast.

I'm sorry to say so but this offcourse is total BS. To run as fast as he does you need the right morphology. Allthough you can train not every(-)body is the same. Let alone the mental capacity.
And i'm not talking about people with mental or physical disabilities.
Really this comparison is just totally wrong.
