Has there been any discussion on where to stay? I'll be coming from out of town, so any help picking a hotel would be great. I'll have a vehicle, and a wife and son. So, once I bust out with my ~40 sec. avg, I'll need to have other things to do. Perhaps the Coke Museum and Aquarium. Can anyone recommend other fun things to do for out of towners?
Thanks,
Neil
Don't bother with the aquarium.
Just walking around Atlanta is fun.
Oh yeah. I can take in one cuber.
Good deal. We went ahead and made our reservations. We'll be at the Super 8 at 301 Fulton Industrial. We were able to get the reservations through travelocity at $60/night. I'm not going for luxery, so that'll be just fine.
WOW! After making my reservations, I thought I'd actually research the hotel a bit. After heading over to tripadvisor.com, I found the following:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60898-d86272-r5762174-Super_8_Atlanta_Six_Flags-Atlanta_Georgia.html
It's a good read if you like to feel a little queasy and uneasy. I'll reduce it to a few bullet points:
- there were tiny bugs that kept appearing everywhere
- 3 strip clubs (not gentlemen's clubs)
- prostitutes entering and leaving the hotel fr3eely
- drug dealers
- the motel management defines non-smoking room as putting the ash tray and the cigarette buds in a drawer next to the bed
- loud people in the hallways all night
- the door to the bathroom had a small hole where some one had punched it
Convinced? Me too.
So, I just went to travelocity and cancelled my reservation:
Total Room Charges $ 141.00
Less Hotel Cancellation Penalty: - $ 0.00
Less Travelocity Cancellation Fee: - $ 25.00

TOTAL REFUND: $ 116.00
That little lesson cost me $25.
Can those of you that know Atlanta make some recommendations on hotels? We're on a budget, and are not looking for a 5 star hotel. We simply need a fairly priced, quite, clean, friendly place to rest our heads.
Thanks,
Neil
