So cubing has been growing in popularity at my school, with maybe 40+ students who have learnt how to cube and at least one teacher. Some of them are sub-1 min so I was thinking of organising a school competition to keep the interest going. I think I'd get at least 15 people to join.

I can't run it like an official comp since I don't have stackmats, and I doubt many people would want to participate with so many rules to follow. I also want it to be feasible, I'm not sure how many volunteers I'd be able to round up for stopwatch timing, scrambling etc. I have a teacher's support on the idea so I need to come up with an outline before my school break ends. Since I've never been in a competition I thought maybe you guys would have some good ideas. Thoughts?

Do you have a library? that could be a good place to have it if its slightly bigger than a classroom.

Is 3x3 the only thing people can solve? Cause that would keep it nice and simple just doing that.

Just as a suggestion, we are planning a competition for sometime in spring at Waikato university. It might be a good idea for you to attend to get an idea of how competitions are actually run.

I was planning on using the school hall, but the library could work too, didn't think of that. A few people can do 4x4 but not enough to bother with it.

Sweet, I thought I'd have to wait until next year for another competition. I'll try to make it to this one, but the school competition will probably be earlier since my teacher wants it before students start exam studies.
