It's a pure Silicone, and will make your cube faster without damaging it.

Costs $9.99

Lubix has been shipping for weeks, and I have plenty in stock:

hmm. after reading the replies, it seems i need to sell you all on how well it works, before you all take it as the newest thing since sliced bread.

so, i'm with my web designer now, and i'm having him put in a new link that is ONLY for people here at speedsolving.com. it should be up in about 10 minutes

the price will be $4.99 + shipping (shipping under 2 bucks)

the website price will remain at $9.99 which i still believe to be a fair price. each tube will lube around 12 cubes.

so yea,
give me a few minutes to get that ready, and i'll post the new link for the discounted Lubix.

It's a pure Silicone

Can we see the material safety data sheet?

I'm pretty sure this isn't new.

Well, the domain was created 4-5 days ago.

Riiiiiight. I'm sure that was properly tested.

LUBIX is an odorless, colorless, high viscosity pure silicone fluid

Sounds like silicone shock oil, with a fancy name and a higher price.

2ml for $9.99 plus S&H.

Wow.

2ml package is enough to lubricate approx. twelve 3x3x3 cubes using 7 drops (1/50ml) per new application.

Hmm, 14*7/50 < 2. What am I doing wrong?

Awesome! Just like every other lube!

I don't understand (probably a language problem).

just got our site up this week, and obviously time to ditch some placeholders. =] we're still working on it, and appreciate the feedback.

the silicone we're using is similar to shock oil, in that it's silicone. but the viscosity of shock oil is low. Lubix is a commercial grade silicone that is 200x more viscous and not watered down. it may seem expensive, but it's actually a reasonable price. this isn't a silicone you can just go to your local hobby store or auto shop and pick up.

it's like motorcycles... the lubricant they use for chains has a high viscosity. it lets the lubricant do it's job without flicking off of the chain. same with Lubix.

my friends and i have been using this silicone for years now. i'm still using one of the same cubes i lubed 2 years ago.

we already planned on doing a couple time lapse test simulating spins over long periods of time. one with the Lubix, and one without to show how well it holds up.

Isn't it available in many grades, from very low to very high viscosity?

You don't know my local hobby store. And I suspect I can at least get it on ebay.

Is one of you the guy in the demo video solving a 3x3x3 in 27 seconds?

Hmm... Lubix vs nothing? I'd find a comparison with other lubes more interesting.

you're right. shock oil vs lubix is a great test. i was thinking of using the unlubed cube as a control.

the video is of me. it's actually right about at my average. my best lucky is 17.27 with pll skip. best above that 19.44 that i earned. bunch of low 20's. but the video is a fair average.

that's one reason i want to get this in the hands of you all who are faster than me!

The instructions page twice says "1 drop (1/15th ml)", which also seems more reasonable:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_(volume)

So... which is it? If it's 1/15, that's more like four cubes.

yea, i actually used that same page when i was doing my conversions. then i did a test to see how many i could actually lube using the 2ml. it came out to 14 cubes with how i lube them. so we had to change the numbers on what a "drop" was, and missed the edit on that page.

Does high viscosity mean its thicker than other silicon lubes like cubelube or maru lube?
My grandpa has like a gallon jug full of pure silicon in his shop, thicker than most of the other silicons I have tried. I wonder if its similar stuff.
However, for some reason his silicon stunk really bad, and I had to wash it out of my cube, and the stench remained for weeks :p

The 4.99 price doesn't seem TOO bad. But I gotta say, I hate the syringes, so I wouldn't buy it for that reason alone. Too many bad experiences trying to get "cubelube" into my cube. A small bottle like maru lube comes in makes application way easier.
