I was just wandering what timer applications you guys use and which ones do you think are the best? I'm using JNetCube, which is great but I'm just trying to explore the alternatives :).

Cubetimer.com

Really really good. So handy just type it in, saves your scores, gives you averages, scrambles, support for lots of puzzles etc.

There is a cubetimer I use that is by Dan Knights. It's a plain and simple timer. I'll upload it if you want me to.

i just go to online-stopwatch.com. its just a stopwatch. i looked at cubetimer though, i think ill use that now.

What's the link for downloading CCT, what does it stand for, and can someone give me a screen shot of it?(right here)

What does it do when you connect CCT to a server? I looked at the FAQ but it doesn't give me any answers. I know what a server is - I'm just asking why there's a reason for it to connect to a server.

I don't understand...

A CCT server is a way to talk to multiple people, like for racing. Connect to pjgat09.gotdns.com or w/e sometime and look at it. It's sorta cool.

Wait talk to people? For what? Why would you need to talk to people?

Racing? Racing games? I'm not really in to racing...

Could you explain more spefically? I'm not really in to servers and what they are used for other than that they are definitely used for holding up websites

I know the guy who runs cubetimer... and I have been pestering him for some changes... but since it's a 'pet project', he can't really justify spending crazy amounts of time re-working the timer.

It is the timer that I use, but some features that I would like to see are(in no particular order):
  • A log in feature. It currently tracks your times via cookie... so if I'm timing myself from my laptop, and then I move to my PC, I don't have the same average.
  • Multi-scramble page... kind of like what Dan Harris runs at cubestation.co.uk If you register for his site, there is a cube log, and you can have it generate X# of scrambles, and then input your times... and viola... you get your average. You select the number of scrambles AND the number of turns per scramble.
  • A multi-start timer... The countdown feature is GREAT... but I would rather practice like I'm going to compete... 15 second inspection... put the cube down, and start the timer when I pick it up. I know it's 'tricky' to code... but hey, I'm dreaming here.

I'm probably going to get a stackmat... unless I hear back from AvGalen about a timer I saw him use in a youtube video...

@Hadley
I didn't have any trouble installing 1.6 on my mac, and I almost hate using anything else. It wasn't a pain at all, but the only thing, is that keyboard controls aren't remapped, so like copy is still ctrl+C instead of apple+C.

@pcwiz
Its meant for racing. Try it out, you can figure out what the purpose is...

Thanks for the great response guys. It doesn't look like there are any timers significantly better than JNetCube, so I think I'll stick with that.

Hi guys i need some help with CCT. I am going to collect my stackmat timer from the post office this morning but i haven't been able to get CCT to work lately.
When i click the icon to load it up the picture of a stack of cubes comes up and then stays there, with no timer. I cant get rid of the picture until i restart the computer and it won't load the timer.
Anyone know a fix for this one?
