Why does everyone hate Pogobat's beginner method tutorial?

I like Dan Brown's method, I actually first learned from his
tutorial. Although it makes me hard to switch to other methods,
I'm slowly switching to F2L then to LL.

Isn't pogobat a massive fag?

Very unnecessary.

The guy dropped out of high school and then made a series of videos criticises the university community because he didn't like the teaching methods.

He's a fag.

You're an idiot.

dude, he brought more that half of the cubers here into cubing. He's how I got into cubing, and whether its a good method or not, it's a method.
I must say though, that meph's video is better

i learn how to solve with dans' method, and now i haf learn the full fridrich method, and i found no difficulty 'upgrading'

so i think no matter how gd or bad u ar, our objective is to solve the cube rite? from my own point of view, hes a gd 'teacher'

When I bought my first rubik's cube. I also watched his video on how to solve a Rubik's cube.

There's no doubt that his video has got a huge amount of people into cubing. But I'd compare him to your primary school teacher you always hated.

@Ranzha from ages ago:

Y'know, he does do quite a few of those things that he didn't do in the first in the second, and vice versa. Stupid, he should fuse them.

By the way, Crosshash, I think the reason you got "flamed" was your use of the term "fag".

Ummm because he doesn't really know that much at all about cubing? lol, Ri Li Fi is SO annoying. :fp

EDIT: I just noticed that was my first facepalm ever, and it feels really good

Honestly, I don't think the notation is an issue. 'i' = inverse, which makes more sense than ' ' ' to denote an anticlockwise turn.

I personally think the transition between the two wasn't too bad. At least it gets you ready for OLL. F2L is what I'm really concerned about though.

I average like 50 seconds, which is horribad, with what I know now. I know 13/21 PLL algs, 2-Look OLL, and learning F2L.

In all honesty, it is a beginners method. The transition isn't testicle twisting hard, but it isn't care bear easy.

Just my thoughts.

Dan Brown's method is bad. I learned from a similarly bad method, but without the retarded first layer corner repitions and lack of a proper L case fore the LL cross. Honestly though, my bad beginner method had much less lasting negative effect than learning Fridrich from Jessica's page. Her page makes it look like you should learn F2L algorithmically (her algs are even bad) and if you don't read the fine print at the bottom you'll end up doing F2L with cross on top. Ironically it's the poorest explanation of the fridrich method I've ever see. I think people that still hold a grudge against Dan Brown need to get over themselves a bit. Yes the method is bad but it's not going to permantly ruin your speedcubing ability.

What annoys me is just how good people think he is as cubing. I've read so many of his comments saying ''You shouldn't go to competitions, you'd be really good!''

But really.. he would do really really bad (in terms of winning). He still doesn't do 2-look.

Now it would be stupid to brag to strangers over youtube comments on how bad he would and compared to how great I would be, so I don't reply. But it disappoints me that non-cubers don't appreciate the proper things cubing related.

I don't expect it any other way though, since they don't have the knowledge we do.

Kinda a cuber noob, wrong notation, too mainstream.
You have to admit, that's kinda cute ;)

Anyway I like how you're all writing about "what's cubing all about". So what IS cubing all about in your opinion? Besides wasting some time solving the thing?

I'm an absolute noob on this but always willing to learn new things. It's always interesting to discover how people devote all their time and endless amounts of effort into a whole sub-culture I didn't even know existed.

So long, have fun cubing (and - to whom it may concern - stop being such a**holes about it), I'm off to watch the so much recommended Badmephisto-Tutorial and find out whatever you mean by "Fridrich" (which is perhaps the word that's been quoted most often here.)

So my conclusion is that people don't like the Fridrich transition. Yeah...I agree.

Also, again, the notation issue is fixed. He redid it because he realized his notation was stupid...I have no idea where he got his original notation.

Also, Fridrich doesn't really give a good understanding of how you're solving the cube either xD
yes i do agree. I learned to cube on his video before trying the Fridrich method and it took me forever to learn because i couldn't grasp the concept. Also I think he makes it complicated with to many steps. HIs other videos have NOTHING to do with cubing.

I never used his tutorial... I actually used the booklet.

That's why I don't think I'll be using F2L, because I learn faster when someone throws pictures and algorithms at me over intuitive solving. I make the algorithms a little intuitive, but that's MY way. Which is why I found PLL and OLL easy to learn. It's just plain old algorithms...
