blockbuilding or cross + intuitive F2L? (intuitive beats algorithmic F2L)

what are the pros and cons to blockbuilding? cross + intuitive F2L?

I'm using the ZZ method (all edges oriented + a line in the D face) and I'm reasoning why everyone uses blockbuilding instead of making a cross and then doing intuitive F2L.

Blockbuilding allows more freedom of movement which means you can be more efficient. Also EO-Line reduces the F2L to the <RUL> moveset. The downside is that it requires more thinking and is harder to master than slot based F2L.

Only thing I can think of is less moves and it's easier being color neutral.
But what if I do both like blockbuild half my cross and do f2l for the rest.

How is "blockbuilding" a cross any different than the standard way?

Wutstandardwai?
I mean like petrus f2l how you create a 2x2 block when you have an easy xcross/cross.

I think it's all about how much work you're willing to put into it. Less work, pairs would be better; more work, blockbuilding would be better.
