Hey, so I'm new to this forum, and I recently got a Rubik's 3x3x3 and was able to solve it after some practice. I can do it in about 2 mins, but is there a better 3x3x3 than the standard Rubik's version?

Also is there a better 4x4x4?

Please provide a link if you can, also try to keep it in the USA, I don't want to wait 2 months in shipping ;).

Ok so first try not to ever, EVER, type "best <puzzle> pl0x?", as it angers many people.

The best cube is the one you like the most. However there are several, potentially better, diffrent types of cubes out there. Type A,B,C,D,F etc.

If you want a good cube then you will have to wait for those couple weeks of shipping it will take. Or wait till you go to a comp and see if people are selling there.

Ok, sorry, won't happen again. Not sure of any local comps, but I will research that a bit. What's your personal favorite? I want one that moves smooth and doesn't get stuck.

Not sure of the correct terminology to refer to this stuff yet :p.

Personally I like the old Type A I and the Glow in the dark blue cube from C4Y was pretty awsome.

I would just start getting cubes and seeing what your favorite one is.

Thanks for the help. I think I'm going to order from C4U. How long does shipping normally take to the US?

Just thought that I'd point out that it's generally suggested that you get faster on your normal rubik's cube than buy a new one right away. I was a 50s average before I bought a new model and I know lots of people were much faster than that.

It varies quite a bit, and i would suggest popbuying.com, from what it looks like, they only take about two weeks, no matter where its going to. As well as shipping being free and prices being ridiculous.

I just ordered: Two 3x3's a megamins, a void cube, and a mirror block cube all for under 35 bucks.

someones got a popbuying abbreviation guide, when i locate it ill post again with the link.

Its really about personal opinion, i think that i would suggest anyone serious about speed cubing to go ahead and find the cube right for them, that way they dont have to worry about it later, and they dont blame the cube for thier poor (obviously in their opinoin(sp)) times.

i discourage popbuying. It really is not that much cheaper and the service is pretty bad. Ya the shipping is free...but in the end you get what you pay for. Use the search function and you'll find tons of people wondering where there orders are or why they havent shipped and its been well over two weeks. I placed an order just shy of a month ago and it left HK just 2 days ago.

They also don't tell you if an item is out of stock, so lots of people are waiting and wondering because of this.

I'd say save yourself the headache spend a few extra bucks and go to C4Y.

Popbuying is the place to go right now. All my orders have come in about 2 weeks and customer service is great. Here is the list that shows the real names of the cube and links to popbuying.

If you haven't sanded your storebought, I recommend doing that. It'll turn a mediocre cube into something just as good as a diy. Here's an easy tutorial.

Buy a diy cube anytime you want. Just realize, like I did after using a storebought for over a year, a better cube might shave a few seconds off your time. I have a ghosthand and an edison. The edison is better than my storebought by maybe a second or two. The ghosthand actually slows me down. I want to try an FII but my hopes are not extremely high.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'm going with this:

If you have any more suggestions, let me know, I didn't order it yet.

Also, I don't have any silicone lubes available right now.

I can't see your cubes for some reason, but I have a mini QJ and it is amazing. I would definately go with that. I also have a 2 x 2 LanLan that is really good.

i dont think they sell either of them on c4y

i really like the type A V its fast it cuts and its pretty smooth here

if you want to order from the us then you can buy a rubiks.com diy here

Err... don't you think you're pushing things a little too fast?

At two minutes, your objective should be practice, not considering to get a new cube. Lubricate your cube that you have right now and just keep to it until you get better.

I, personally, averaged about 45 seconds before getting a DIY.

Yes, and I'm also taking into consideration that it's going to take 2-3 weeks to arrive. I am down to about 1.30 now, so by the time is comes, I'll be about 45 :).

Thanks for the help again guys, you should start to see me posting around the forum more.
