Ok, since i dont have a WCA profile having never competed, im looking for a bit of info. If i want a true reflection of my averages. Should i take an average of 5 or 12? or does it not really matter?

at the moment im using the Jnet timer.

but from what iv noticed on here all averages are posted in averages of 5. should i do this aswell or am i just sounding like a n00b?

Hell, if you want a true reflection, consider at least an average of 25. For example, I had a non-rolling 17.5x average of 12 on square-1 earlier (much quicker than average) and rolled it out into a 19.5x average of 50.

If you are asking this question you should not be posting in "Expert Village."

Measure yourself using avg12. avg5 is for competitions or quicker practice.

hehe yeah man, i thought id ask the pros, i know that there alot of established cubers here and i know that you are particularly well known. but cheers anyway

Thanks for your flattery.

Avgs of 12 are more accurate averges because there are more solves so you get to average out more times, the more times you average out, the more accurate the avg unless you are doing an avg of like 100 where fatigue is a factor. So go for the avg of 12.
