I went to the Point Park fireworks in Pittsburgh tonight.
I sat on the side of a really busy area with a hat on the ground (with a few dollars in it for show) and cubed. I sat there for around an hour solving the 3x3, 4x4, and 5x5 while my friend scrambled.

I made no money...
BUT
I met Jason Baum, who destroyed me in a 3x3 race.

I was just wondering whether anyone else on these forums went to this fireworks display because if you did, and got there from 7:45 - 8:45 you should have seen me cubing. :p

That was pretty cool meeting you tonight Musturd! I hope I didn't creep you out too bad when I randomly approached you like that. Wish we could have cubed a bit more, but my sister wanted to get a spot up close before it got too crowded.

I doubt there were any other cubers there though, there aren't that many cubers in Pittsburgh.

Really?
I thought I saw a ton of users with Pittsburgh, PA as their locations.
And didn't you say there was a competition at CMU every semester?

It was nice to have met someone.
You were the first person to talk to me during the hour I was cubing other than children <5 years old who asked their parents if they could play with "the toys".

Well, there are a few. Dan Cohen goes to school here (Duquesne University). Then there's Ethan Rosen, Ilkyoo Choi, and kickinwing2112 on the forum. That's pretty much it as far as I know, though.

The CMU competitions are mainly people who go to school at CMU. Ilkyoo Choi actually teaches a class on cubing there, and the competition is like their final exam - they have to do a solve in competition to pass the class. The majority of them are pretty slow though.

I should of gone out to the fireworks would of been fun. I went to some country club's near Sewickley instead. But I should of gone to the city I guess.
