How long where you cubing until you went to your first comp.

7 months after starting I went to a comp and got a 17.03 average for my first ao5.
Noice !
Still suprises me that there are people who got sub 20 quite quickly (i took 1 yr 9 months and counting)
Ive been cubing for about 1 year 9 months now, and still havent went to a comp yet.
I plan to in July tho so nearly 2 friggin years
Yh first comp is like 1 yr, 10 months and 9 days after when i first solved a 3x3 (3/9/23)
Hopefully i can pull off a Sub 20 ao5, recently ive been getting those alot more after I switched to a Meilong M i set up myself.

sub-20 is ez with consistent practice smh

I started cubing on July 25th 2022 but my first comp was on July 8th 2023 so about a year. I averaged 17 but got a 22.92 avg r1 than a DNF avg r2 after because I didn't hold the timer down long enough

My son recently learned how to solve a cube sometime in mid-June learning the beginner method on youtube. He told me he wants to do a competition so I found one close to us coming up in less than 4 weeks, so he will be doing his first competition after cubing for 7 weeks lol. I told him he's only competing with himself so whatever happens, happens. I don't see him getting past round 1, but I'm hoping he can meet other cubers and has a blast while he's there.
