I bought some new silicone spray today. It is the same as I have always used (CRC Heavy Duty Silicone, Multi-Use Lubricant). First I cleaned off all the old silicone off my cube (Type A) with an exacto knife. Then I sprayed all of the pieces (disassembled) with the spray. After ~15 minutes I checked to see if it had dried. I noticed that all of the pieces were moist and sticky. I thought that the pieces hadn't dried so I let it dry for another hour. They were still sticky. Has this happened to any of you? Is this normal? What do you suggest I do?

Ok I just put it back together and it SUCKS! It's so goey and slow. I'm kinda scared this will ruin my cube. WHAT HAPPENED TO CRC SILICONE SPRAY?!?!

Wipe off all the silicone (use paper towels, an exacto knife might scratch your cube) and re-lube it.

If you see scratches on your cube, try to get them out using sandpaper or steelwool

Yeah, i agree with hadley, since im also close to his general geographical region. Where we live, it gets really humid.

Also, i've noticed that the CRC does vary.... I have one can which sprayed on somewhat clear and didnt leave much white residue at all, and 2 other cans which left that familiar white residue.

Perhaps you had a bad can?

MAJOR DISCOVERY!

I decided to do a test. I took my old can of silicone spray (barely had any left) and did a 2 second spray into a dixie cup. Immediately after that, I took my new can and did a 2 second spray into another dixie cup. After 10 minutes the old can's spray had completely dried. The new can's spray however had hardly gotten thick.

What the heck is up with my can?

P.S. I am taking all of the silicone off my cube using warm water, goo-gone, and towels.

The old can has no lubricant left, only propellant. Most propellants are highly volitile, so they evaporate quickly. There is nothing wrong with CRC.
