First Layer of 2x2

I use a layer by layer method for the 2x2 -- first solve one layer, then use a CLL to finish the cube. I know all the CLLs, but I have trouble solving the first layer effeciently -- it often takes my 8+ moves. How can I improve my first layer abilities?

Some of them are COLL's that I use as CLLs. I got them here.

The rest I found myself using a cube-solving program.

Uh, the 1st layer takes about 5 or 6 (I think) on average with color-neutral (which is really easy on 2x2x2)

The scramble is bad cos it's from cubetimer xD

But anyway, the first thing I see it the nice 1x1x2 block the the bottom. I now look at if making the yellow layer would be easier than the pink. I see the pinks layer as U2 R2 U R' (nice and 2 gen). The yellows 1st layer is uh... bad
so I choose U2 R2 U R'
