What's considered a "normal" rate of progression?

my rough progression (imo i have a very slow progression)

sub 1 - 8 months
sub 50 - 8.5 months
sub 40 - 9.5 months
sub 30 - 1 year, 2 months
sub 25 - 1 year, 8 months
sub 22.5 - 1 year 9 months
sub 20 - 2 years
sub 19 - 2 years 1 month

I now consider myself sub 18, maybe sub 17, after about 2 years, 7 months but have little recorded data to prove that for some reason.

I feel like my progress is slower too. This is good.

How much do/did you practice to get to this point? Specifically from sub 1 to sub 30 and all those inbetween.

I have (almost) 3000 (Recorded) solves in total, so not much, but thats mainly because I spent most of my time practicing off my PC and learning stuff rather then putting it into practice.

This is roughly 20 hours of practicing 3x3 btw over 2 odd years.

Also 3x3 is by far not my main event, so alot of my 3x3 practice is just me doing 4x4 + or OH - so probably another couple thousand 3x3 solves (technically)

I reckon that if I prioritised solving rather then knowledge then I would've reached sub 20 in a few months, assuming at one point I got a better cube then what I had at the time (carbon fiber meilong 3c). But then again it is very hard for me to learn algs, so I spend much longer doing it (im getting much better at it tho, ive learned 31 OLL algs in 2 days)

Im referring to the 1st quote btw

So I've been cubing for almost 11 months now and I glow ball 18 and my best ao5 is 14. I keep getting comments saying my rate of progression is fast, is it really? If so, what's considered "normal"?
it took me about 4 years to start averaging sub 20, but im also pretty sure i improve very slowly

btw i clarified that i am getting much better at it now, but it was a issue for the first year or so of cubing so I spent more time on that then actually cubing.

its now 40/57 in 4 days btw
if we do the math…
if you learned 31 OLLs in 2 days (insane), and you are a 40/57 OLLs in 4 days, then you learned 9 OLLs in two days

so you could just learn all of the other OLLs and be done with full OLL
