Running cubers

Why not use an inhaler?
I dont really have coughing fits (the last time i had one was in 2018 on some school swimming trip)
i have exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB), which doesnt involve as much coughing, more or less just pain in the lung (well tightness but it hurts like hell) and wheezing, but since coughing is a stereotype (at least for where i am) for asthma i aint, and nobody else has bothered to try get me one.
Idk tho, i should probably get one

Counties today. 17:14 5k. 5:32 mile pace, pretty solid. 5:20 through mile(goal pace), 11:06(5:46) through 2 mile and final 1.1 miles in 5:32-5:33ish pace. My middle mile was a lot slower due to a cramp that probably cost me a about 11 seconds and probably 4 seconds to bad hills. Pretty happy with this race anyway and aiming for sub 16:40 at Sectionals in 2 weeks. Gonna be real tough but I think I can do it. Sectionals course is also like 40-50 meters short so maybe low 16:30 goal. Time to lock in!

WHAT
I just got a looooong overdue 800m PB and it was on grass too - the last time I got a PB was July 2024 and I got a 2:31 on track...

today I got a 2:26.50 on grass!!!!! I know these times are kinda trash for you guys but I'm still pretty proud of it, and I really want to get sub 2:25 and then maybe sub 2:20 next year. That would be epic but it's a very lofty goal, especially because I just can't seem to get myself running regularly.
I'll try though =)

Good stuff dude, i’m running the 4x8 at the season’s first meet today, hoping on a sub 2:10 split. I think sub 2:20 is very attainable for a 2:26 runner even in a few months

The hardest part(especially in winter) is getting yourself out the door. I believe you dude sub 2:20 soon!

@Sombi McJunior
A: Super shoes/super spikes are very expensive so I want to be a to use them for as long as possible.
B: the “it’s easier on my legs” is exactly what I don’t want. The only workouts I use my plated spikes for is repeats where I’m trying to hit an exact pace. Any progression run, threshold, long run, tempo fartlek I won’t because I run those by feel. Running by feel I want to be able to feel the ground and how my muscles react to different paces. I think it’s more valuable to be able to do that.
Edit: my discord is cubinginatree if you wanna talk running there

Been a little while, but in the meantime, I've fully gotten into running. It's currently my main form of exercise. I'm currently running about 35KM/week, and doing 4 runs/week. I'm looking to consistently run 5 days/week, which shouldn't be an issue now that I'm on school holidays.

I don't have much in the way of goals, apart from a sub-20 5KM PR, a sub-50 10KM PR, and to run a half-marathon. All of which are very much achievable, but the first two require more concentrated speedwork on my part. ("Conversational" pace for me works out at roughly 5:30/KM.) I currently need to build up my endurance base (my longest run is 16KM, or 10 miles, which I've only ever done once), before realistically being able to complete a half. I'm hoping to achieve all three of these goals sometime in the new year.

(In case it wasn't already completely obvious, I enjoy distance running over short- and middle-distance running.)

I recently got my first running watch, a Garmin Forerunner 165. It's completely changed the way I run. Yes, it cost a great deal of money, but not having to carry my phone with me on runs, along with having access to biometrics like HR and VO2 max, absolutely makes up for the fact that I spent most of the year saving NZ$300 to purchase it.

My Strava profile, where all of my runs go, and my current PRs can be found.

I just made a 15 week training plan (I didn't realise how much time I had until my school cross country so yeah) for my school cross country run, at which I want to run a sub-16 minute 4k!
Currently I think my stamina is pretty poop because I've been doing a lot of 300m and 800m but because I'm using a watch training plan for the first time ever it will probably make me do way more slower running.
I hope it goes well!

Love to hear it man! Keep up the great work! You got that sub 20 5k soon!

Easy days prevent burnout and make you better. Constantly ripping 800s isn’t very healthy. Good luck on the 4k!

WOW
I've been doing most of the recommended workouts on the Garmin Training plan thing (or harder ones depending on whether I felt like it), and yesterday was a rather long temp run so I decided to just do a 20-min barefoot 5:20/km run on my local AFL oval just for recovery. Well, I thought I'd be running pretty close to that temp so I didn't bother to check my watch until 3 km in... and I was apparently running at 4:40/km! It literally felt like I was doing a super relaxed pace (and remember this was barefoot), but I have no clue what got into me and I decided to go a bit faster and in the end I got a PB 5k by over a minute - 22:27.2! The thing is, I usually don't run 5k so I guess it wasn't too difficult.

My watch now says I could run my 4k at school in 14:54, not factoring in the hills (which might be a problem because I can run hills fast but I get cramps in my thighs sometimes when I go back to full speed afterwards!!!)...

when I was running for conditioning, I was running at like a 8:30-9:30/mile for about 5-6km, but when I was running with my dad bc he's cool, we were going like 13+ miles at 10:20-40/mile

it's really up to you. Fast does not = good.
