i dont have a 3d printer, but my friend does so i reckon i could see if he could print a core that would be able to make a better core.

Well...

48 edge to corner magnets
16 corner to core magnets
24 edge to core magnets
12 maglev rings

thats 100

but someone could also add 48 more magnets to the edges and corners to increase magnet strength, and add 20 more to increase the edge/corner to core magnets, and they could also do 24 more magnets that are center to edge.

so i think the most in a 3x3 is somewhere around 148 to 192

don’t forget the edge feet to corner feet magnets, center to edge magnets, and the bajillion maglev rings in that moretry cube

Fdm printers are about 250 to 2000 quid, SLA printers are about 500 to 5000 quid and SLS printers are maybe 50000 quid plus i think.

Sorry to bump, but I am planning a similar project following the return of my black sided Meilong M. I have a spare Moyu ball-core and am planning on buying some magnets to add to the corners.
