Making Rubik's world Championships more like the Olympics?

People from smaller countries would have an easier time getting in, but I guess that could be fixed by giving countries with bigger cuber populations more cubers that they can send to the championships.

I don't understand this logic. They might have less competition at their own national qualifying tournaments, but once they get to the big stage it should be level playing field, meaning all countries have equal representation.
Like in the actual Olympics. A country may enter up to 3 qualified athletes in each event if all those athletes meet the entry standard during the qualifying period.

True, if a country has 1 billion people, then they've got plenty more to choose from, but they can only send their best three. You've met the standard to participate, and so have they, but every cubing nation can only send 3 representatives, if they're good enough. I think a universal qualifying standard would be mandatory. Great idea!

I would love to see speedcubing at the Olympics. As I read the criteria for new Olympic sports speedcubing fits perfectly.

As to qualifying for national and international tournaments, I'm all for that too. You should have to qualify for each event, though, not just as a good speedcuber. The same way that somebody can't qualify for the 100 meter sprint and just because they qualified they can also run the 400 meters and compete in boxing. They may be perfectly qualified, but if you want to compete in 4x4 you need to qualify for 4x4, not just 3x3.
