Fairly new to speed cubing. I can do beginner method in around 2 minutes. I've been working on F2L really hard, learning algs, watching YouTube, and practicing hours a day, etc. I can't get faster than around 3 minutes using F2L. It's very frustrating. I have been working on look ahead quite a bit, but the times just don't get better am I missing something? I don't seem to be pausing much and keep moving but when all is done, I 3 minute average is the norm. I certainly don't understand how I could get my current methods much faster. Help! I I'm getting very frustrated.

Don’t learn the algs all the algs at first, just use intuitive F2L until you can turn confidently and decently fast. Do untimed solves just to really get the feel for F2L. Do you average 3 minutes on CFOP? You may be taking a long time in other steps aside from F2L. Make sure you can recognize the F2L case easily.

There are a ton of different F2L cases, and learning to recognize each one as if it were a last layer case takes too much time. Practice the easier cases intuitively (meaning you find your own solutions), and as you progress you'll slowly get faster.
