Chinese Cubing has a major problem... (Cuberoot controversy)

If you have been cubing for a while, you may know this person by the name of Ruimin Yan. He runs a channel called Cuberoot, and coaches Yiheng Wang, and other chinese cubers. However, he has lately been found to be a creep online. For example, he talked to a 12 year old girl online when he was 25. His activity then was... questionable to put it VERY lightly. That’s not even true, I’m pretty sure someone linked the doc on one of my profile posts MONTHS ago, and then people were talking like it was old news. Not sayin my it makes the information any better, but it’s more like a well known secret than something that we’ve just learned about. We’d boycott him if it wasn’t for the fact that he’s the only content we can really get from Yiheng and other top Chinese solves like Xuanyi

This does not make him any better as a person.

Yeah, hopefully people know what happened. I don’t think anything will happen because of my previous statement about how he’s the only look we have at top level Chinese cubing. I really do wish there was a way to not support him, but there’s literally no other option.

But it is important to allow them to engage with the community, atleast the positive parts.

For example, we do need the high quality footage and active reconstructions provided by Ruimin.

Honestly, hell no. This isn't something to ignore and focus on the positives. His video quality shouldn't be in the conversation when we are talking about literal crimes against children.

Im with gruuby, there are bad people who don’t deserve positive recognition, and we can’t treat everyone with respect if they have done bad things
