Yeah, Max isn't really a content creator and isn't big on social media, so it could have been a business decision by Cubicle.
No, never that. If someone is sponsored, they'll show who they are sponsored by, regardless of who the comp is sponsored by.
Absolutely agree on the content creator part. And it's not like Cubicle is probably asking for crazy social media content, he's not doing a good job, especially with youtube.
Let me give you some examples:
We all know Max Park won world championships 2023. And this took place in August. Guess when he uploaded his solves of his winning average? December....
Wow took so long just to upload 5 solves. And it only has 13k views right now which is extremely low. Even the title is honestly kind of bad imo.
He's titled the video "2023 World Championship KOREA 3x3 FINALS (5.31)"
doesn't even mention that he's the world champion in the title or the thumbnail....
Not uploading a bunch of WR Videos or uploading them weeks/months later
Lots of WR videos he's never uploaded or he uploads super late. When the WR kind of "loses" a bit of its "hype."
Now compare this with Tingman, a youtuber with over 1 million subscribers.
More views and attention (especially with shorts) giving The Cubicle more reach
And Tingman actually plugs the cubicle in the youtube videos, not just puts it in the description type thing.
Max Park doesn't have as much of a reach. You can argue otherwise, 3.13 WR, Netflix documentary, and being well respected in the community as a world class cuber. But does that really matter?
1st I want to talk about Netflix documentary and 3.13 world record. The hype has gone down, people who got into cubing from it have already done so. There is not much additional benefit from it anymore.
2nd I want to talk about him being respected as a world class cuber. Most of these are cubers, who have already picked a cube store as their favorite and regularly order from there, or order from both stores regularly.
Also I want to mention this, cubicle probably also realized the rubik's sponsorship was also a bit of a hinderance. Take a look at the Max Park setup which they had. They made it for a bunch of different cubes. Which you might think what's wrong? More cubes = more chance at money right? I actually disagree here, they could have made a "world record' edition cube with the tv3 which would 100% be better for sales (and if they want to keep the other cubes with setup, I guess they could) but they prob couldn't do it due to Max's rubik's sponsorship. The Cubicle can't have a World record/world class main premium speedcube with Max Park like they do with other sponsorees such as Tymon, Tommy, Matty, etc. Take a look at Tymon's videos, the cube he uses with Cubicle setup is linked in the bio.
Lastly I want to talk about something mentioned, which is a bit off topic to the rest of what I've talked about, which is Tingman cubes being "expensive." Not to defend Tingman/The Cubicle, but almost every youtuber product is "expensive." That's just sadly the way things work.
