1x1 wrh!'s 3d printed cubing projects | 15cm 5x5

The Cubicle made their own version of the magnetic cored vin cube, but they did something else. similar to the moretry tianma 3x3, they added magnets in the corner feet that correspond to magnets in the edge wings. they said that with just a magnetic core, there are inconsistencies with the strength of the slices and the strength of the outer layers. I question their new design as I do not see how their solution fixes this problem that they highlighted. number one, the magnets are in the edge as well as the corner meaning the change in magnet strength is equally applied to each layer. hence no difference. also, they have now made the bond between the first- and second-layer stronger meaning that the possibility of making the unwanted wide move is more present. Does this kit make problems rather than solve them? is it redundant? is it better to not have the extra magnets? why are slices even an issue when they are only used in parity algs or less than ideal methods? feel free to disagree for the sake of discussion!
I think it is very good idea. I think it fixes the problem that was noted in the VIN well and seems to work. I mean it set a WR so I think it is very viable. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive haha.

in TC's Vin version by Steven's Designs, apparently
these extra magnets are in the FEET
of both the corner pieces and all 24 edge wing pieces

I can see how this would provide a bit more stability
and also to balance out thw standard corner-to-edge magnets
and especially the wing-to-wing magnets in the edge pieces

The extra magnets in the new SD-TC Vin version would certainly balance lut the INNER slices
since the new magnets add more magnetic strength to the OUTER layer turns

This design would not improve overall stability by as much as core-to-corner magnets

And it certainly does not take away any og the magnetic stewngth in the inner alicesy,
which is one of my pet peeves re: 4×4's

Personally I use L middle or ring finger for M and M' and L ring+middle for M2
And ring/middle placement is good, so I'm not letting HALF of the inner slices nive w/o the other... so I don't want or need strk g inner skice magnets.
(much less DOUBLE magnets as some cubes have done...)
Which is the main reason I can see for cube mfg's to make inner slice magnets sooo strong
and that just ain't necessary (from here knn in referred to as "SSARY" !')

Overall it seems highly likely rhat core-to-corner magnetixation still reigns supreme atm for improving big cubes, even the 4×4, the little guy ...

There is probably a way to explain my position on this that involves even more verbage
perhaps @Bingus Ringus McDingus [aka B.R.McD] can elaborate ... a bit ...

the guy who did the solving that set a new WR
is who (and what) set the WR

let's don't go thinking that just any Joe Schmoe can shoot billiards well with a broom handle, mmkay

I have been summoned.

4Bld relies heavily on slice moves that requires EVERY SINGLE LAYER to be stabilized, so equal magnet strengths all around would not pose a noticeable problem.

The issue with corner core magnets on an even layered puzzle is that with inner layer turns, there's always going to be a specific corner that doesn't move. For example, on a GAN 251 M Pro, one corner is anchored to the core by a plastic rod, fixing stability issues, but you can't do so on a 4x4. Slice moves are unaffected, and the pull of core magnets will be uneven. 4x4s will have half their inner turns core-pulled by the wrong side of the cube.

Plus, slices are, yes, unaffected. So for 4BLD, you may as well do without.

So the feet magnets fix this by creating a similar pull as would core magnets for inner slices. Hopefully this made sense and I'm not aimlessly yapping, but those are just my thoroughly un-cohesive thoughts.

OMIGOSH!!!!!!
When you freaking see it!!!

so basiaclly someone named cookiezi choked a new pp record (pp is short for preformance points which are given based on how well you did on the map) twice and both of the chokes being 727 pp then someone named aireu got 727 pp on a map some time after which led to this clip

How did you make this???
I must know!!!! please...
The easy but more expensive and wasteful way is buy a black side mgc and do a cap swap, but then you have a useless 4x4 Laying around.
I took off the caps, and sanded and painted with spray paint over and over. It’s not easy if you’re new to spray paint tho. First make sure to cover the internal part of the cap with tape (I forgot so I had to do a lot of cleaning lol) and also remember to warm up yo ur can of spray paint in some warm water so that the clumps dissolve. Spray quickly to get clean, smooth layers of paint. Sand with high grit and repeat. I gave mine a protective clear coat. For best results, I’d use a airbrush which I plan to get

So buy 5 more stickerless MGCs. Definitely a good idea. Then, assuming you don't lose any pieces, you have an orange force cube.

That's what I wanted to do. And I failed. Don't do this.

Nicely done bro! haha at first I thiught you had 3d-orinted a gkossy black side 😜
I used Krylon brand "Made for Plastic" series on some of my cubes with pretty good results
Most recently I used a glossy sort of charcoal grey they make in their "All In One" series (which promised the dame great adaptivity to plastic surfaces ✅)
til do the yellow side on my YJ Zhilong mini 4x4 and 5x5 and both turned out with sweet looking glossy smooth faces

I am also using the krylon that works on plastic. didn't get the world's greatest results tho. not too hurt tho as the cube is old and bad anyway lol. just so fun to solve on a black side ngl.

In progress: Woohoo 254 M. Being designed in Fusion 360.

How would vertically places magnets work? I would think that it, to put it simply, wouldn't. But I'm happy with the idea, I bought a ShiShuang which could come in 55mm (and yet I bought the 50mm). Interested to see how this play out.
