You may have noticed this too.

When cubes get announced, they’re the hype at that time, but a few months later or so, no one even knows about the cube.

Like for example, the Super RS3M V2 was a cube that released in June 2023, but it only stayed popular for like a month, and then died out.
Basically the cubes everyone knows these days are like the RS3M 2020, the WeiLong, the Tornado V3, or the GAN 14.

There are many underrated cubes out there, but when they released, they died out quickly.

I know of many people still using cubes from before the pandemic. Even I almost always bring a Valk 3 (2016) or MGC v1 (2018) to competitions since they are still super solid puzzles. I know it's a bit cliche to say that cubes aren't built the way they used to be because it's straight up just not true. There are plenty of good cubes that are still out there, you just need to know how to differentiate between a new release and Gan or Moyu recycling a mid cube and branding it as a new one. The only reason it seems like cubes were higher quality back in the day is because when the dust settled it's so easy to forget the garbage that was around at the time. Does anyone here actually remember the Yan3?

I still use the GTS v1 which was a really nice cube with good slice moves for BLD!

The Super RS3M V2 was good, although way overpriced, and also Moyu released the RS3M V5 like a month later, which basically had everything the Super V2 had but at the most competitive price.
