Jorian Meeuse's progression thread (Kinch WR230 ER70 NR4)

Not really, but clock is kinda the only event I'm enjoying atm, probably because it's fun to improve quickly at something. I think I'll go for a sub 4 official average and then maybe go back to practicing BLD.
Honestly you might want to consider maining Clock, you seem to be doing very well in it!

Yeah I don't really like the idea of sticking to one event as my 'main' event. I just do whatever I feel like at the moment. That used to be blind and 3x3 (with occasional intermissions of 2x2 or sudden fits of alg-learning), so now I'm kinda good at that, but then I kept failing in comp so now I don't really enjoy practicing it anymore because it feels like a waste. Right now I only enjoy clock, so I do that. Surely I'll have an urge to get fast at pyra or something at some point and then I'll do that. I suck at focussing on one event for a long time. One thing I'm quite sure of, though: I'l never get good at big cubes.

I really hope to get back to the level of motivation for MBLD I had before my last comp with it, I think I could do some good stuff there.

Your improvement has been insane though, I remember when I was giving you tips when you got your first clock less than a year ago and now you global the same as me, and probably even faster than me.

Funny PB average. Previous PB was 6.99

I finally got myself some WCA-legal earmuffs, so I can use those in my next official MBLD attempt (hopefully this year, lol). I think a big part of why I blacked out in my last attempt is that I could hear that everyone had stopped solving, which made me really nervous. That won't happen again, at least.

I also think I'll buy some better cubes, because the general consensus among people who try my cubes seems to be that they are not good at all (partially because of a lack of setup, but also because they are too old or just not good enough in general).

Idk this feels a bit too lucky

I average mid 3, these scrambles are insane!!! (All downsolved by the way, and not all my first solution) Are these all your same solutions?

Downsolved ao5- 1.25 what the heck
(0.69)
Inspection// z x2
Solve// R' U' R' U R'
5 moves, 7.24 TPS
0.79-
Inspection// z2 x
Solve// U2 R U' R U R' U'
7 moves, 8.86 TPS
(1.96)-
Inspection// x2 y'
Layer//F U' R U R'
CLL// U F R U R' U' R U R' U' F' U'
18 moves, 9.18 TPS
1.20-
Inspection// y
Solve// R2 U2 R' U R U2 R' U'
8 moves, 6.66 TPS
1.76-
Inspection// y'
Solve// U R' U R' U' R2 U R' U R U2 R' U2
13 moves, 7.38 TPS

I put way too much effort into this... But for someone averaging mid 3 any form of a 1.25 average is kinda insane.

My solutions were:
1. U' R' U' R U'
2. y x' R2 U R' U R U' R'
3. z2 R U2 R' U2 R' F R F' R U2 R' U R U
4. y R2 U2 R' U R U2 R' U'
5. y z R U2 R U R2 U' R U' R' U2 R U2
So 1 and 2 were the same moves but a different orientation and 4 was the same solution entirely. Your solution on 5 is definitely better than mine lol idk why I didn't do that (Also a tip, use R U' R2 U R2 U R2 U' R and its inverse and mirrors for that CLL on your third solve as your main algs)

And inspired by you I tried downsolving them as well and got 0.55, 0.64, 1.26, 0.81, 1.10 (with your solution on the last one), so 0.85 average. Pretty ridiculous. @NigelTheCuber (a.k.a. 'the guy with whom I was tied for 2x2 average with a time of 2.42, which I will never forget, but who now is 3rd in the world, somehow') what can you do on these scrams?

Thanks for taking the time to show your solutions! Nice cancel on the 3rd, I didn't see that. As for the alternate alg, I probably won't use it since it only saves 1 move but the other one is very fast. Have you tried doing my orientations on the first two scrambles- I feel like they're faster but there may be a fingertrick I'm missing. The 1st one with my solution you can do it very fast with a regrip(regripping and doing the last 3 moves as one move) or with no regrips if you start with your thumb at the back. The 2nd one I can't seem to avoid a regrip with your solution...
