Community Feedback: how can the site improve?

An idea that I’ve had for a while is being able to ignore threads. Just how there may be annoying members you wanna ignore how about threads. Some people don’t like to see the progression threads, YouTube channel threads or joke threads so I think that a good solution is being able to ignore threads you don’t want to see.

It may be helpful if the creator of a thread could pin a reply, whether it be their own or someone else's. This may be especially helpful with longer threads if there is a reply somewhere in there that is especially useful.

Agreed. I don't know what this would practically look like, but having a OP-pinned post would be very nice. Something else that could be cool is a Stack Overflow style "accepted answer" for things marked as questions (maybe anything in the Cubing Help & Questions subforum?)

This would be a nice QOL feature. I don't see myself using it much but I know there are people who have zero interest in some threads/types of threads

Idk if this is the right space to talk about this. CStimer recently updated to a random state FTO generator. I am wondering if the forum comp uses random state. If not, maybe the comp could update

I don't really like the reaction score system for a couple of reasons.

They weren't used until recently so older members have much lower scores.

In progression threads, you get a bunch of likes every time you get a good solve, which makes up most of your score. This means that people with progression threads have much higher scores.

This could be fixed with a separate reaction system that your score is based on with only thumbs up and thumbs down. So if somebody gets a PB you can like it normally, but if somebody offers good advice you can use the new system.

I don’t agree with this. I feel like funny/ high quality posts that either make a good argument or are informative make up more of your reaction score. I personally feel it works good enough for what it does, but maybe going on your point about thumbs up and down we should have Meh and eyes up subtract from you score. This would be more reflective to how respected you actually are.

The forum comp has always used random state for FTO.

I don't get reactions in my progression thread often. If I do, I get 2 or 3 on a message, but not much. For people who actually post often in progression threads (like daily ao100s or something) this won't be the case, as not many people would be interested in it if it's not a PB or anything that special (IMO)

I'd be fine with negative reactions having impact. If someone is upset that they are continually given bad reactions, then the solutions are to either a. make better posts or b. stop caring that much about a meaningless online number. This is already being done to some extent with reactions/message ratio, and this would just be enhancing that a bit.

I know it's not a huge issue, but it might as well be fixed. I just checked a random progression thread and they were getting around 5 likes per post which were mostly just liking their PBs and stuff. I feel like getting a PB shouldn't (for example) affect how much people trust your advice. Also I thought negative reactions already subtract from your score, if not I think this should be the case.

If Eyes up becomes negative, remind me to remove this.

A few suggestions and also general feedback

1. I love the alternate layout that the cream text gives you, but i don't like the cream text itself all that much. Would it be possible to get the layout while keeping the font colour the same?

2. Editing profile posts and adding reply to profile posts is a long requested feature that we would still love to see added.

3. This may just be an issue on my end and judging by the nature of the issue i don't think it can be solved, but just for your info, i sometimes have an issue where when i hold down the like button to do a different reaction i get this:

Which could just totally just be my end.

I've had that third issue a few times but it's not really an issue, I just tried again and it works.

I think the way to solve this is that when you click on a reaction instead of it automatically going to the like emoji it will show all of themm

I’m 87% sure that editing and deleting (for OP rather than the profile owner) used to be a feature. Not sure as to why it was removed

Why does everyone hate cream text?
