both slice layers are done printing and am now working on printing the edge pieces (triangle thingies). I'm going to print this puzzle in white, and once it is done, I'm going to scrape around and hopefully save up enough money for stickers. Or I could just print out some more tiles. hmm i guess I'll have to think about that. also, I'm printing this in white so it'll have a cool retro look to it. I wanted to do red because Gan's chinese new year cube is my favorite, but I was afraid to as the spool I got has a bunch of kinks in it and I didn't want to deal with that. maybe on my second cube I'll do that (looking 3d print one and use it as a bargaining chip at the comp).

people have done mirror squans where the pieces are disproportionate and all the same color, but I haven't found much else. Itt's not hard to do tho. all you have to do is take a 3d model say simpson's head. made a square cavity, and then make necessary cuts. from their, just print everything out and glue onto an existing squan. I'm to do something like this with a Mandalorian helmet and a 2x2.

okay, at least I have the wr for biggest compass cube, smallest compass cube, fastest solve on a compass cube, and most compass cubes in the world. I guess I'll just make my first squan and take it to a comp one day lol.

In the amount of time that I could have theoretically printed 3 squans, I troubleshooted my printer and now have the slice layer that turns along with one corner piece. I might finish this puzzle tomorrow with any luck.

Okay, four of the corner pieces have finished printing with no problems at all. I can tell already that I may have to do a v2 as I forsee some problems with the puzzle popping easily, but we shall see. this is my first original design of a wca event, so I'm learning a lot.

okay, I have enough pieces on one layer to do some first turns, and while it turns fine, the noise is horrendous. it's way too high pitched and scratchy so I'm going to try and glue cardstock in the high contact places.
