As what Discomantis said, if you want to get fast, CLL is very important. I stuck with Ortega for way too long, and I regret that. CLL is not that difficult, and it will only take a week, or maybe even less. Learn Ortega ig, but once you get Sub-6, just switch to CLL. If you practice a lot, you can getSub-3 with CLL, but I was Sub-3.5 with CLL when I switched to EG.

Also the cube is important. You definitely want to get either a GAN, MGC Elite, MGC, or Valk 2. Any other cube that is decent could work, but it would help a lot to get one of the cubes I listed.
Just a personal opinion, but I would say to take your time with CLL. The way I did it was learn 1-3 algs a day, maybe more if they were really easy, and then use Jperm’s CLL trainer to really get comfortable with the cases. It did take me about a month to finish all of CLL, but I was wondering if anyone else did the same.

For your recommended cubes, would a GAN 249 v2 (non-magnetized) work? I currently main that, but it’s a little small and of course, non-magnetic.

I just got a PB2 average of 1.72

I am very proud of myself for getting this average. I am more proud of this than my PB average because of the fact that I didn't choke after counting a 1.25, because I one looked all solves except for the fourth solve, and because I used anti-TCLL on the last solve on a scramble that looked bad at first.

I think I'm going to learn the L set of EG-1 now. I do have a one pi and two U cases left, but after I tackle the L subset of EG-1, I think I might learn those.

(I don't mean LEG-1. That is a different thing where you do EG-1 with your bar on left.)

Here is a recon:

Scramble: U' R' U2 R2 F' R2 U' F U' F U2

I opened the cover, and noticed that 3 red pieces were solved.

I did an x rotation followed by two y' rotations to find the red piece.

I noticed that I had a TCLL case I knew.

So, I did this:

U R U' R' U R U' R'

While doing the TCLL, I was thinking about the corner facing up to predict the AUF.

I realized it was a U AUF during the alg.

I just did a bit of 2BLD practice

I just started this yesterday, and I wanted to ask, how exactly do new cycles work? Example, Say my letter pairs are GH IJ and then I hit the buffer piece and have to start a new cycle. How do I go about it?

Pick a random unsolved piece that you haven't visited yet and go from there until you hit that piece again

Yep, the problem I am having is do I count the letter of the new piece I picked? So, say I pick N as my new piece, do I include the letter N in the memo process?
Yes. Also, say you then go on and hit B after a while, maybe even immediately after, you also include B.
But based on what scrambles took @Discomantis long or not and the fact that he +2ed a solve, I'd say he doesn't use the 2BLD method but just 1 look 2x2 (the +2 corresponding to a mispredicted / guessed AUF)

So... if I am understanding correctly, you start a new cycle, and pick the N piece. You include it in the memo, and then keep going until (if) you hit B, then you also include B in the memo?

Thanks for the input. Just one last thing. If I pick piece N, and then land back on N, do I count N again or no?

Yeah, that would make sense.

Here's an example solve:

Before scrambling, put the cube in your blindfolded orientation, and then do a z2 rotation.

Then, follow this scramble: R U' R' U F2 U2 F' R F2

First, do z2 to solve a few pieces.

Then, I'd start memorizing:

QK U

The piece at the U location is the buffer. So now you have to start a new cycle.

What you have to do is you find a piece that you haven't landed in memorization so far, and that piece also has to be unsolved relative to your orientation.

For the sake of continuing, I'll pick the C piece.

So now I have: QK UC

Then what I will do is I will memorize where that piece (C) has to go.

If you ever land on the piece you picked, (C) you will have to start a new cycle again.

If you cannot start a new cycle, you have solved the cube.

So, just for the sake of continuing, here is the rest of memo:

QK UC FC

Ok so you do use a 2BLD method. Sherlock Holmes fail moment

Thanks!

This is a joke, right?

If not, I meant 2BLD old pochman example solve
I was referring to what I said earlier:

I thought you used normal 2x2 methods for 2BLD but turns out you use actual 2BLD methods

I just learned 5/6 of the L EG-1 cases!

I still need to work on 4 of them, since I've been using mirrors for two of the algorithms, and I've been confusing cases because of that.

So now I have these cases left:

3 H cases
3 U cases
1 L case
1 Pi case
1 PBL case
