Hello,

Do you remember Formula Explorer, the website that allows you to visualize the case solve by a particular algorithm on the cube (and that is rather made for Last Layer algorithms)?
Well, I made a browser extension called Last Layer Alg Viewer that follows the same principle (except there is no database of algs behind it).

Once you installed it, just follow these simple instructions :
- Select an algorithm on a webpage by highlighting the algorithm text with your mouse. Most of the common algorithm formats are supported.
- Click on the Last Layer Alg Viewer extension icon in the browser toolbar, or press Ctrl+Shift+X, to instantly see an image of the case solved by the algorithm (a 2D image of the last layer)
- Change the various display options, such as the cube color scheme or orientation, to get exactly the image you want.
- Right-click on the image and choose "Save As..." from the context menu to save the image on your computer.
I hope you will enjoy this new extension which is for Chromium only, at the moment.

If you have any feedback or suggestions, please let me know in the comments!

I made a small update to fix "Sym LR" and "Sym FB" that were not working properly if the algs had parentheses without exponent, ex: F(RUR'U')F'.
I made also some minor cosmetical changes.
No comments? There are no so many extensions for the cube from what I can see. But perhaps this one is not the one you were wating for...

Nice! Does it recognize both the apostrophe and close single quote as a prime move? That's an issue I've had with pasting algs into tools like alg.cubing.net
Yes, it is very permissive. Apostrophe, closing quote, minus, minus one, "i" and others will be recognized as anticlockwise turns. Moreover, it will convert the alg in a more traditional notation, so you can also use it to convert an exotic notation before pasting it to alg.cubing.net.

Thank you all for your support.
For your information, with the new version of the extension, you can now have the selected algorithm being inside an input field or a text area (for instance when you are writing an answer in a forum).
Once again, any feedback (feature request, bug report) is welcome.

More seriously, there is no check that what you selected is actually a valid algorithm. Any letter that is not understood is simply skipped.
What would be your expected behavior?

I installed it in Chrome but CTRL-SHIFT-X is not working? Any ideas how to fix this?

Also the popup is always with scrollbars and the size of the window could not be changed.

Hello, you can check chrome://extensions/shortcuts to assign any shortcut you want to the extension (probably there is a conflict with another extension).
Regarding the scrollbars, the size of the popup windows have some limitations, and the extension is really optimized for "last layer algs", that is algorithms that only affect the last layer (and thus need less space to be displayed ;) ).
