Fukuoka Kengo James' Progression Thread

Wanna ask about finger tricks:
I can only do sub 2 T perm and sub 1.8 Y perm on 2x2. How can I improve?
I can do sub 0.6 sledges on skewb, but I found cube rotations taking longer than that. How to do cube rotations on skewb efficiently?
I would recommend switching to these algs for 2x2 T perm and Y perm:
T: R' F R F' R U2 R' U R U2 R'
Y: R U2 R' U2 R' F R F' R U' R' F R' F' R

The hk sq1 NR who is sub10 on 3x3 did solve critiques for me yesterday.

He told me that I’m doing too much cube rotation esp on F2L, hindering my tps. I was doing F2L with white cross on top before and he noticed that I do lots of cube rotations. With yellow on top, I can recognise and do these F2L pairs quickly. Also I’m trying to use more regular F2L rather than pseudo slotting for basically any cases, relying less on pseudo slotting overall (since there can be rly gd case or rly bad case based on the scram). And on avg I now only do 1 pseudo pair out of 4, doing only the best pseudo slot case and do the rest with F2L, taking the greatest advantage of knowing pseudo slotting learnt from FMC.

With white on bottom and higher portion of normal F2L instead of pseudo slotting, my pause between pairs is significantly less as I don’t have to choose among tons of pseudo F2L cases, but still have the a few normal F2L pairs to choose from. As I got used to doing F2L in that way, I can pretty much spam my tps not only for LL, but also for F2L. I hv got lots of sub 20s since I put white on bottom after finishing the white cross, and I just got a new PB single of 11.57 which is a full step CFOP solve with only one white piece solved, OLL37 ending with Ja perm. My old PB was 16.03 years ago on the yuxin little magic M, and now I finally broke my long standing PB by a huge margin of 4.46s — its not even close.

He also fixed my finger tricks on D moves from pushing with left thumb to using left ring finger to do flick. Also helped me to update my OLL25 alg.

As I’m slightly better on Y perm on 2x2 than T perm and the T perm alg seems to be slightly shorter, I decided to learn the 2x2 T perm alg first for today. I have memorised it well and I can now do sub 1.8 T perm, which is the same time as my Y perm on 2x2. However, I would like to ask about the finger tricks of this alg. My main “issue” with this alg is that I can’t really do double flick for the U2s in this alg. Is this fine?

From homegrip, you can do the Rs and R's with wrist turns, the F with the right index finger, the F' with your left index finger. Both U2s can be done with a double flick with the left hand (first index finger, then middle finger). With practice you should be able to get this alg sub 1 (my best time on this alg, with WCA legal timer start and stop, is 0.90)

I’ll just show you how do I actually execute this alg:

yeah you shouldn't do it like that. just do what I explained in the previous post
What exactly is wrist turn?
For F moves seems like it should be better done with right index finger but I’m using left thumb.
For double flick, I know how to do it with my left hand, but just that I was actually gripping the cube using my left middle finger.

Just normal R moves, the way you would intuitively do them. It's called a wrist turn because your wrist moves as you turn.
F with right index, F' with left index. You could do F' with right thumb, but I wouldn't do that on 2x2, only on 3x3.
Hold the cube with your ring finger instead.

I’ll learn to finger tricks in that way doing F face moves with my index fingers instead of my thumbs. I am too used to using left thumb to do F moves as Y perm is actually my favourite PLL.
To hold the cube with my ring finger to do double flick (not specifically for T perm), I found it hard to do on my main the Mgc Elite 2x2 as it is on the heavier side. I may learn these finger tricks on my backup the rs2m evo first as it is quite light, even lighter than my Gan 251 M pro

Y: R U2 R' U2 R' F R F' R U' R' F R' F' R
I just use J perm for T (slightly longer) and for Y I use (R U' R' U') F2 (U' R U R') D R2. For Y perm on bottom you can insert F2 before the last R2. I'm not sure about the D moves tho.

My 3x3 PB single of 11.57 is done on the Moretry Tianma x3 v3.

I can only do sub 2 H perm on skewb. How can I get faster with H perm on skewb?

Is sub 2 skewb H perm fast or slow for an intermediate skewb solver? As I already know Sarah’s intermediate and I’m not going to learn Sarah’s advanced at the moment, how can I further improve in skewb? I do sub 0.6 sledges on average.
