Fukuoka Kengo James' Progression Thread

There is a longer discussion about V-Perms
There I also posted a good JPerm Video where he shows and compares around 10 good ones

I like this one
(R' U R U' R') f' U' (R U2 R' U' R U' R') f R
It's basically an antisune with some preparation moves. That's why it has a very good flow

I was originally in the first place of the waiting list of my first comp on the coming Saturday and I suddenly got accepted this morning.

I have these algs left to learn before the comp:
- V perm
- OH Z perm
- Square-1 parity

V perm is the most important for me as it is the last alg for me to complete full one-look PLL.
For OH and square-1, as I don’t think I can make the cut off, I will just do the first 2 solves. In case I got these cases, I just want to make sure that I’ll be able to complete the solve.

Any suggestions on how can I learn these algs by tmr?
For OH Z perm, I have just learnt from my friend to do OH M slices by tabling the cube. I would still stick with my OH alg for H perm tho

As I have just learnt to do M slices with OH, I found the M slices on my DaYan GuHong v3 M with stronger magnets a lot better than my GAN Mini M Pro UV Coated. I have now switched to my DaYan GuHong v3 M with stronger magnets for OH, and I’ve got my pb single of 34.13. My previous pb was 37.34 with my GAN Mini M Pro UV Coated, which is more than 3s slower. I got a H perm for the 37.34 solve, and I didn’t know the OH H perm alg or OH M slices. For this 34.13 new pb, I got a Z perm and I applied OH M slices I’ve just learnt from my friend today and it went pretty smooth.

I have just relearnt the square-1 parity from this tutorial:

Only V perm is left and the comp is tmr

I’ll try to learn this V perm alg with my gan i carry as this is the same alg suggested by GAN

For OH H, I prefer R2 U2 R U2 R2 U2 R2 U2 R U2 R2; it's the same movecount HTM but is faster in QTM (quarter turn metric) which matters a lot more for OH because lots of R2s can be quite slow.

Edit: of course, if you can do M slices relatively fast, stick with M slices

Actually I modified the alg you mentioned to make it easier to memorise. But as for now I can do OH M moves comfortably, I may just switch back to the regular M move H perm alg as its a lot shorter

You should definitely not use that V perm. I know you said no D' moves but then at least use R' U R U' R' Fw' U' R U2 R' U' R U' R' Fw R. It is faster than the one you put there, and it has an antisune in it so that makes it easy to learn.
you mind a Fw V-perm?
I've never used any algs with wide moves before except OLL24, but I may like to use it if its easy to rmb

@JFCUBING told me to use this alg for V perm. As I got back to square-1, I found that this V perm is actually not that bad: R' U R' U' R D' R' D R' U D' R2 U' R2 D R2

I have just learnt it and thanks @JFCUBING for making it possible for me to do full one look PLL by my first comp!

I found that I'm quite a bit faster with doing M slices for H perm so I've switched back to that for H perm with OH.

Good luck for your competition. You can set a lot of new official PB if it's your first time 😜

Do you feel safe enough to use the new algs in competition? For me it always takes a while until I can use them in stress situations.

I will compete in everything except 3bld.

For new algs, like for square 1 parity, if I don't use the alg, I'll just get DNF. For PLL, I'll be using most of the new algs I have learnt lately, but not on OH. Like for Rb perm, I learnt the mirrored Ra perm but I always mess up Rb perm. I'll be doing T perm + U perm for Rb perm as there is no AUF at all and its fast and safe.

I'd like to share my PLL tier list as I've just completed full PLL

that's the 4x4 supercube pll parity but with outer turns

thank you for putting eperm in f tier. i hate e perm.
If you don't like the fingertricks you could try this one

z U2 R2 F (R U R‘ U‘) (R U R‘ U‘) (R U R‘ U‘) F‘ R2 U2 (z‘)

That's the one I've learned first. It is an easy setup move with triple sexy and then the inverse setup move.
It's 2 more turns than the standard E-Perm but sexymove is fast. You can also do inverse sexy if you like this more.

It has a z at the beginning, so it swaps on the right side instead of the front.
