mfjs meilong non magnetic square-1

Maybe because it's not as good as everyone says?
If everyone says it's good, I'm pretty sure that's a solid majority opinion we can trust to make judgments about how good a cube is in general.
Whether you like it personally is a different story for sure, but it appears that almost all top square-1 solvers use the MGC.

Probably, but I have done ovwr 600 solves on it and it either doesn't turn or it pops.
If everyone likes it, it's a good cube in general, but if there are only good reviews about a cube and you don't like it, you feel cheated on so I try to always include my counter-opinion that this is not the ultimate solution in cube form.

Honestly, even buying a Qiyi Qifa and magnetizing it yourself would probably be a better option, as the corner cutting and stability are only paralleled by the MGC, which has breakage issues. But if you don't like magnetizing things the MGC should do just fine.

Buy extra cores if you solve fast, though.

The MGC doesn't really have breakage problems, from what I have heard and experienced.

The Core on the Volt V2 can't strip as it comes with a Steel Nylock Nut from Factory.
Oh, they must have changed that. Are you sure? I know I’ve seen (older) videos where people said that it didn’t come with one.
You don't hear as much about it anymore, maybe it's gotten better but they have been prone to breaking Edges.
You know, it’s ironic, cause my MGC’s SQ-1’s edge literally just broke.

That is indeed weird since I bought one close to release that came with a Lock Nut.

So mgc is a good option.
Maybe there will be some new sq-1's next year.
Yes, the MGC is great, but make sure not to keep turning if you get a lockup, or it might break. And if for whatever reason an edge gets stuck, it's best to take apart the cube rather than trying to pry the edge out, as it can break, as it did with mine.

tbh, I don't really like the non magnetic MeiLong squan.
You should treat yourself with something a little bit better. Probably the YLM (but the quality is going down) or the MGC.
It feels that the screws inside for me are too loose and they don't tighten making a very horrible experience. I don't know but that is how I got it.
Just get something better because the YLM and the MGC are way better than this.
