Cubing deadline

Don't cube past 8pm

I mean that he changes his mind

I wouldn't encourage disobedience, so it's best to just obey him and then later on ask him to (maybe) lift the deadline.

Or you can just disobey him and buy quiet cubes so the noise wouldn't annoy him.
Good idea but i think it wont work for him

If you are allowed to use your computer after 8, you could do virtual solves. It takes a little to get used to it, but I've found that for myself, I'm actually faster on virtual cubes than real cubes. If you have any interest in FMC and your dad wouldn't get upset at you for it, you could see about doing that.

So the core idea of FMC is solving a 3x3 cube in as few moves as possible. You generate a scramble, and then you have one hour to find a solution. You can use up to 3 cubes at a time to try different solutions and what not, and are allowed to rescramble as many times as you need. What matters is that you have written your solution down by the end of the hour.

To start, you can just use CFOP to find solutions. But you may quickly realize that CFOP is designed for speed and not for efficiency. Instead, people learn various other methods, such as Petrus, Heise, and ZZ, and choose to use the method that has the easiest solution.

More advanced cubers also use some really cool techniques such as NISS, Insertions, and Domino Reduction. All of these are impossible or impractical to use for speedsolving, as they rely on doing things such as preforming the scramble backwards and doing PLL algs in the middle of the solve. Don't worry though, you can still have efficient solves without doing these methods. I just wanted to mention them to give you a better understanding of what higher level cubers do.

If you are interested in learning more, I suggest watching videos on YouTube. A few years ago I loved Speed Cube Review's videos, but they may be outdated by now.
