#FTO for WCA Petition

I support FTO but you're better off posting this to WCA forums and getting support there
More exposure is always better. Focused on getting the signatures before presenting it to the delegates. But noted. Will add when I get a chance

you know these petition sites do nothing right? the signatures are meaningless.
All petitions are meaningless. We should actually never try to change things. Really why ever do anything? Joking aside, yes, a petition will not 'change' things. The ultimate decision comes down to the WCA delegates and we have no control over that. The goal of a petition is to make a community's voice heard. The WCA only adds an event because people want to compete in it but if no one tells them they want that event, they would never add it? If you never ask for it, you will never get it. Doing nothing does nothing. A petition helps to communicate the desires of the community in hope of change through collective action. One stick weak, many stick strong. If the petition, in the end, does nothing, that's fine. At the very least its an attempt at something.

FTO is good puzzle. Fundamental in the sense that it is a platonic solid. The hardware for FTO and master FTO can improve a lot.

The methods and top solvers have improved in the recent years. Good petition made, it will take a while though as FTO does not have a sizeable number of cubers solving it consistently unofficially.

Like I said, if you want to petition, do it on the WCA forums and gather support there. However at this stage kilominx is still too unpopular to be considered. How many people do you know even practice kilominx? Or know what it is? The WCA seems to have gotten much more conservative about adding events since skewb.

Did you mean FTO? I thought this thread was about FTO, not kilominx.

FTO is a bit unusual compared to the other non-WCA puzzles in that it has a lot of support from some of the old-school cubers, including many current delegates; this can be seen in the relatively high interest in the FTO Discord. I'm not sure how popular it is overall; it is true that it is still has a rather low participation rate in our weekly competitions here. I suspect that low participation rate is due to the difficulty in getting good FTO hardware.

Yes, I got them confused in my mind. FTO is even more obscure than kilominx to solve. One informal gauge of a puzzle's popularity in the community is how many cubing youtubers are making videos on the topic. In this respect FTO has very little popularity. When youtubers like Cubehead and J Perm start showing off FTO solves and making review videos, then the puzzle will reach many more cubers. If you compare cube company releases, which should be decided by market research, kilominx (with at least four releases) is much more popular to produce than FTO (with basically one made a decade ago).

true. Even though there is some solid hardware (like DianSheng being the best so far), it's still nowhere near the technology for the other cubes like 3x3, 4x4, or any of the WCA oficial events. #FTOforGAN?
