Are there any plans to allow solves to be exported from Cubestation? I'm really liking the app (apart from it absolutely CANES the battery on my iPhone!) but this is a big thing that's missing... Of course, a PC based app version would be nice too

The reason why the battery can't be charged is that the battery's power is less than 5%, but the power is not completely exhausted.
A temporary solution is to completely exhaust the power before charging again. and you could try to let the i3 stand for i3 3-5days until the battery inside is exhausted. And then charging it again.

Did that actually fix it for you? Seems strange considering my battery was always topped up and never dropped below 50% what firmware is your cube using by the way?

Ok then, little update, my second i3 has done exactly the same thing as the first one, including showing as having 5% charge whereas it showed fully charged ten minutes earlier. Gonna try the fix rastopato was given and will let you know if that fixes it or not.

Ok here’s an update for you, I followed the advice given to rastopato but rather than wait for the battery to discharge on its own I had noticed that despite the non-response in the app it was still connected so I used this to my advantage…

The firmware on my cube was version 7.67, after chatting with Phil Yu I found out that his sample was on version 7.76. The cube i had prior was on an earlier version. So I know the bug has been present on more than one firmware version though I can’t say for certain if it is still present in the newer firmware without going through the source code for each version.

I’m not sure what the trigger is but for it to happen to two different cubes on different firmware releases is more than a coincidence. It appears to freeze the cube in an “on” state but unresponsive so you can either let it drain if it’s own accord that may take a week or attach it to the app and set the app in cube settings to not go to sleep for an artificially high number (I used 2000 minutes) and it should drain the cube in 12-24 hours ( I had the app running on my tablet that was left on charge during the time).
Once the cube disconnects due to low battery do a U,U’ to wake the cube and it should flash red to indicate low power. Place the cube back on charge till it shows fully charged. It then should be able to connect normally again.

GAN i3 update tool tutorial

Just found this on GAN’s YouTube channel, it looks like it was uploaded around 2 weeks ago. They have finally found a way of updating the first batch of i3 cubes at last! The tool has to be sideloaded on an android device. Gave it a try and it appears to have successfully updated my cube on 7.67 to 7.76.. Will be giving it a good workout over the next week or so, at least is is on the same firmware that Phil, Cam and others received as samples a few weeks ago. The link to download the tool is in the videos description Now to wait with baited breath for them to fix the quick connect option in cubestation…
Though I do wonder why nobody from GAN had the decency to mention this when it was released

Firmware updates always pose a small chance of bricking. There are steps to reduce the possibility of bricking such as having a well-powered cube & phone and turning off the phone's main radio and home networking so there can be no interruptions.

Just to let you know, the update tool for the i3 also works for the iCarry as well it appears. I was playing about with my iCarry last night seeing what I can do with it as it had loads of issues, losing sync, draining battery quickly so on and so forth… not surprisingly it was one of the first batch that went out as I had ordered it direct from China when it was launched. Thought I’d see if the cube was recognised by the update tool and it reported back showing it recognised it. Hit the upload option and was surprised to see it actually start updating the cube. When I checked it on cubestation later on it showed that firmware had changed from 3.2 to 3.22. It would be interesting to know what was in the changelog and what other gan smart cubes it works with…

oh and with regards to the i3 update I did, not one de-sync or crash since updating it.

It happens with cubestation, cubedesk and cubeast. Same result if I go fast or slow and smooth. is there a way to reset or upgrade my i2 ?

I have a first version of the Gan 356i. The original cube station app recognises the cube, but the app functionality is extremely limited. The new and improved cube station app does not recognise the cube at all and so I can't even use any of the functionality. I can't help but feel it's a bit of a cash grab at this point.

Hi Dear, it also has the function to recognise the cube. Please follow the steps to connect the cube.
Please upload a video of the issue if it couldnt solve at this time.

I eas wondering how can I see my history of times from each step of cube solving , like cross , 2fl etc.
I can see if I globally improve but want to see if I m improving in each step or which step I have to work on

My iphone7 is up to date, my app is up to date and my connection is excellent, nothing to complain about. Of course, I have already tried to delete cubestation, reboot and reinstall it. Same problem...

Doubtful as iPhone 7 is still supported by Apple and is fully capable of running iOS 15 though admittedly 16 will not be available for it iirc..

The iPhone 7 still is supported by Apple. But with older equipment, there could be compatibility issues or bugs between the iPhone7 and GAN's newer bluetooth hardware. Also, iPhone radios might differ between China and the West, so every iPhone iteration was not tested. In general, I've seen so many bluetooth issues with lots of other equipment made by large corporations.

The GAN firmware, app, and cloud software are potential candidates too. There was some firmware update for some i3 models; check to see if there is a firmware update for your cube too. Is it possible to downgrade the iPhone app version with the hopes that you find more stability?

You could narrow down the problem by borrowing a friend's newer iPhone or iPad. Would a local Apple store allow you to download the app and test it on a new phone?

GAN is so close to having THE killer ecosystem. I'm rooting for them and hope you get your cube sorted too.

iphone7 up to date, cube station up to date.

356i2 fully charged :
DNFs, disconnections from the application, I have to log in again
356i1 fully charged :
less DNFs, disconnections from the application, I have to log in again

Gocube, giiker and rubik's connected no problem. :-(

is there a way to upgrade the cube software ?

the update app only works with newer cubes that use ble (Bluetooth low energy) like the i3 and carry. Tried it with my old play v2 and it wouldn’t recognise it.
