[WR] Tymon Kolasinski - 5.09 3x3 Average

Yes, that is true but that doesn't change the fact that he didn't see the orange cross. Note that I didn't say "take advantage of".
If I’m not mistaken, the orange cross had 2 edges solved with a really nice continuation. I only solve white and yellow, but at home, I would consider trying orange because I don’t have anything to lose. In a comp, I wouldn’t take the risk, especially if I had a chance at a sub-5 average. He may have seen it, but thought that he could do better on a cross color that he normally uses.

This solve had a fantastically efficient F2L and a very smooth transition into LL

Two three move pairs and a good 2GLL. A solid 4.83 despite a slip up on LL.

Overall not the greatest result given the efficiency and speedy LL but still a solid solve

A nice solution with a weird xcross (possible Utah solve could be explored for those interested) but a slow LL ruined the solve.

Another great solve to cap the new WR, efficient multi-slotting, ZBLS, and an easy ZBLL. There isn't much to complain about here.

Interesting to see that Tymon does U U instead of U2 a lot of the time. Funny enough this could have been an even better average if Tymon didn't mess up on LL during solve two. Possibly even a sub-5 average!

The average number of moves in this average is just under 50STM which is a very low movecount compared to the average CFOP solver.

CONGRATS TO TYMON!!! Finally a WR set by him!

I didn't expect Max Park's WR to be beaten so soon! GJ Tymon!

But... the WCA website didn't update the records page yet.. (Check my image below.)

When I started, sub 6 was the world record, the gateway into world class tier. That's still incredible, but the fact that 5.09 is possible, that we've had 4 wr averages this year if I'm not mistaken...
I'm so proud of this community
3 wrs were set this year, unless you count max park's 5.47. In other events, 17 wrs were set.
