Hello Everyone,
As you're all aware, myself and Mo are working on a channel named The Cubing Critics.
We currently have connections with a few companies now, (including GAN and MSCUBE) and we have an idea which I think will be useful for both the companies involved and regular cubers looking to buy a speedcube. We decided to make this a dedicated thread to make it easier to find for other cubers that may not be interested in our channel in particular.
Here's the concept:
Every time a new cube comes out, I will produce a short Google Form to gather information from people who have recently bought the cube.
Information may include things like speed and cornercutting out of the box, all the way to what lubricants were added as well as personal speed statistics and averages.
Here's the general structure
When News Is Released:
- We release the news (or some other channel / platform)
- We request information from viewers on whether they will likely purchase the product
- Request feedback and initial impressions of news / prices
When the Product is Available:
- Response to retail price
- Impressions out of the box
- Performance before setup
- Solves completed
- Averages on main and on this product
When Product has had sufficient time on market:
- Choice of customisation
- Choice of lubricants on core + pieces
- Final Thoughts
We feel like we're the best place to do this based on our direct contact with companies. Hopefully all your feedback will be useful for both the channel as well as in the growth of new and established companies so that hopefully, we can see some further development in cubing hardware.
If I could ask for others not to do this sort of polling system that would be great. I am happy to share the exported data after the polls are complete, but by having multiple polls running simultaneously, it would result in either incomplete or inconsistent data. If you guys have suggestions on how to develop the polls further to collect a larger amount of useful information, let us know.

The Monthly Polls will be a series of regular questions which will be refreshed every single month. These will be then used to create a regular monthly analysis. Details to follow in a few days.
More to come. Graphs + data will be shared through our YouTube videos and Talking Critical series. Having data definitely helps us out, as well as companies like GAN and MSCUBE.
