level 1, I've not tried level 2 yet though so I will give that one a go.
Level 2 was actually pretty easy. I just had to do some extra sledgehammers at the end but it was also quite fast. May I also say I love how responsive that the rotations are, I never felt like the puzzle was rotating in a way I did not want it to which is amazing since most online puzzles are a nightmare to rotate.

Oh I thought that was the one you were talking about when you said you finished it because that's the one @Pawel asked us to figure out.
I am sorry for this. Who was the first person to post the solution?
No problem. I was technically first, I wasn't trying to take credit or anything, I just wanted you to know that level 2 is solvable and that I also left some helpful feedback in my first post. :)

I figured it out! The way I did it was that I first made the magenta side, then I filled in the light pink. I knew logically that after I did the light green the dark green would be done. So I did the light green and completed it. I found myself using R U R' style inserts to solve the light green, so I would say cubing helped, at least somewhat.

By the way, I would love to see this as a mobile app. The two things I don't like about it are the color choice and the way you turn the puzzle.
To deal with the first issue, I think you should use "softer" colors that don't hurt the eyes. For the second issue, I found it annoying having to turn the sides 4 times to do one move. A cool mobile feature would be the ability to swipe left and right to turn the sides clockwise and counterclockwise.

As for other suggestions/features, obviously for a full-fledge mobile app there would need to be more levels. I honestly would make a fair amount of the levels easier than level one. This could most likely be done by using a smaller size puzzle with less pieces. I also think there should still be a fair amount of levels harder than level 2, which could be done by using a bigger puzzle with more pieces. I would also love a timer mode where you try to complete it as fast as possible.

Overall, this prototype has huge potential and I can't wait to see where you go with it. Best of luck! :)

Those are great suggestions... I think level one could have only two colors. Level 2 would be what is Level one, Level 3 would be the one I had a problem with (4 colors -- I love the fact you guys solved it!) -- After Level 3, I am not sure what. Maybe more pieces, more colors?

this is what my old game looked like: (color sudoku on a sphere)

So, I got a 17.91 solve. It was an insanely easy scramble with blocks everywhere but I still got it legit from the scramble that was preloaded. Does that mean I have UWR?

The preload is randomized. each is different.

It is even possible I will tinker with it mechanically and develop a mechanical prototype using 3d printer... and manufacture it for sale. (I am painting a blue sky here :) hehe)
If you want to do that, it would look something like this

Since you were officially the first. I think this deserves recognition. How about if I create an official custom T-shirt and send it to you? (you would need to send me the size and info where to send it!) The t-shirt will have the image like in my sig plus "First in the world to solve it" Hmmm. I still do not have a name for this puzzle -- I thought first to call it "Rotoball", but after some feedback, it sounds like some kind of sport.... so I am still looking for a name.

Level 2 was actually pretty easy. I just had to do some extra sledgehammers at the end but it was also quite fast. Actually there still is a bit of a hiccup with the rotation depending on view and direction... The biggest issue I run into is when it is "sideways" and you try to rotate it ups and down... It has to do with the fact that I am trying to save the computing power by "orbiting" the "camera" view around the ball rather than actually rotating the ball which I experienced with Spheroku came at a performance price on lower end mobiles and webGL go. Because of this, the behavior is a bit strange because the "camera" can be upside down -- which means left and right get reversed... It is possible that the other games use traditional geometry rotations which takes much more to calculate in real-time for the computer.

You really don't need to do that. You are the one who deserves the recognition for creating a cool puzzle! :)

I actually had a lot of fun with this puzzle! I solved it in 1:18 on my third or fourth try. If there were to be a handheld version of it, I would definitely have a lot of fun with it, and I bet if people practiced it a lot, they could solve it in under 6 seconds (if there was a handheld version with good turning)

Handheld? A physical device, not an app? I think it would be possible to engineer something like this -- twelve rotators that grab and move 20 tiles around...

Tuttminx - Wikipedia
This is called a Tuttminx and it has the same soccer ball shape that the Rotoball has. The hexagonal faces would be the only moving parts and the pentagonal faces would be the axes of rotation. I don't think it would be possible to mod a Tuttminx into a Rotoball but if you want something as a sort of reference. Some faces would have to rotate over others but I'm 100% sure that a physical Rotoball would be something that is possible to engineer.

Very fun puzzle! Also really easy to get a lucky solve. Best Ao5 was 24.70, best single was a 14.70... UWR! rip @Sub1Hour

Probably most people did this but I though I'd mention it anyway. I kinda did a LBL approach:
1. solve first face
2. solve a color adjacent to the bottom face (in the "middle" layer)
3. insert any of the two last colors with a R U R' style into the middle layer

Edit: Yes, this was level 2.

Did you try level 2?

Level 2 is the harder one with more colors right? I got a 14.70 on that one, like I said.

What?? I can't get consistently sub-1. Level 2 is where you have green on one side and pink on the other, and then light green and light pink in a checkerboard pattern in the middle(with the light green on the side near to the green). In the OP there's a picture of it solved

Ok, my bad I was solving with any color adjacent to any other color if that makes sense. Honestly just assumed you could do that but that would be a totally different event.

Facepalm, should have read the whole post...
