[Help Thread] Advice and Tips for Competitions

Talk with other cubers. Make some friends. Practice/race with them while you are there and eventually think it as a gathering/meeting, not a competiton.
Great point. When people on my bus are like do you do that a lot? Then I get used to them, and sort of in a way break the ice with he/she. It's the strangers part that my shaky hands don't like.

I have actually found that cubing is one of the best icebreakers ever.

Picture the cube naked.

LOLOL

I usually pull up my sleeves, wipe my hands on my jeans, talk to the judge for like a minute, that get's over my nervousness beforehand.
During the actual solve, i get nervous, especially in the Last Layer.

I've personally never been to a competition, but I've solved around a crowd numerous times. I too get very nervous very easily. Just practice around people whenever possible, and ask if anyone has a timer (if you don't).

just breath in a calm and normal way
it will simply calm your nerves and cool your adrenaline

I MUST GET TO THE FINALS AND USE A KEYCHAIN CUBE IN THE FINALS.

seems impossible...i'm tooooooooooo slow.

And it even violates rule 3j:
3j) Puzzles must be clean and must not have any textures, markings, elevated pieces, damages, or other differences that distinguish one piece from a similar piece.
But if you remove the keychain, fill the hole, and properly sticker the cube, then it wouldn't violate any rules.

Try to OH (cube is size of a pinky) or BLD solve it (hard to see colors) hahaha

You don't quite know us apparently :) We're probably the only cubing community in the world where the whole country (literally!) meets up every single weekend, so basically everyone knows everyone. (And I don't even technically belong to this country, I just happen to live here :p)

When you guys talk about meeting other cubers,I think I could talk to the many Malay cubers there(I mean the Sg open).Look at the list of registered competitors for Sg open at the WCA page.there are so many 'Muhammads' there.(including me!)( I'm the last 'Muhammad')

Since when did cubing become a race thing? (Let's not get started with puns...)
