hey guy(girls too).....i just wanted to know how long it took everyone else to get finish F2L(excluding the cross)....also how long it takes you to solve the cube from there!
so if you post your times of how long, it would help me greatly to see where i am! THX!:)

obviously fingertricks play into the times alot, but how long i did u to get good at the fingertricks and still be able to execute f2l cleanly? As in how long did it take u to get those times? oh and btw i love those whose line is it anyway videos on youtube you put up Sa967st lol

I've been cubing for about a month.
Takes me pretty consistantly about 30s to finish cross + F2L.
Today I've been hitting 25 alot though, I think i'm speeding up.

Currently getting solves anywhere between 40-60s
Just got an average 10 of 12 of 48.99s though :o

Multislotting can only be used effeicently and effectively in very few and rare cases, so I don't reccomend (meaning I won't as well) learning it until you get into the 14-15 second solve range.

For x-cross, look around on youtube. There is a video about it, I'm not sure who made it though.

BTW when I am "in the zone" for cross+F2L it takes me usually around 10-15 seconds (10 seconds means a lucky case) and the rest for OLL+PLL (I avg. around 25 seconds or so).

ok thx....how long did it take you to know all the plls?......i do 2 look oll and 2 look pll so i only have 6 cases to know! :)....but i wanna get alot better times!

I'm more like a 40-50s solver. My last avg of 5 was 44.37 with one lucky case being down to 40.2secs

I just started F2L intuitively (no algorithms known really) about a week ago. With it I get 50-1min total time to solve, meaning right now it slows me down. I'm thinking of learning the 41 cases though, any advice on that?

Don't.

omg dude thatll take forever i think im with nitro on that one...dont! lol
but 41 cases? what method requires 41 cases?...i mean if its faster then its your choice ya kno but me im fine with my 21 for pll :P

Both have every case listed.

JM Baum notes that he believes F2L is fastest. Seeing some of his videos youtube, he DOES get his F2L done really fast. Then again, I believe he uses ZB method now.

EDIT: About the cases, from what I saw, the majority of them are just mirrors of the other cases as well as very similar alg's. Doesn't look too bad. I thought I could even get 2 or 3 a day. Then again I cube for 3-4hours sometimes...... (I'm diehard set on 30 avg with sub 30 single by the end of Feb).

jason baums f2l guide is very nice.
if you were going to go alg based f2l (which i dont recommend) i'd say his site.

he has some nice tricks for the more advanced user too, particularly the couple of 'f2ll' algs that are there (but he doesnt name them that).
ZB would actually slightly 'slow down' your f2l, in that the last slot would take slightly longer (even though you'd be doing more).

and my f2l is between 8-12s (my last layer is about 6 +/-2s).
