Petrus Method Speeds?

~19 seconds or so...once I get some new cubes I'm gonna consider switching to Petrus or learning some more ZBF2L algs...

2x2x2 block: 3-4 seconds
2x2x3: ~5 seconds
Edges orientation: 3 seconds
Last slots: 4 seconds
LL: 4 seconds

Just ballparking, and for LL I don't permute the corners first...just normal OLL and PLL

1st block: 1.5 to 4 seconds,
2nd block: 2 to 7 seconds,
EO: 3 to 10 seconds,
F2L: 3 to 6 seconds,
OLL: 1.5-3 seconds,
PLL: 1.5-4 seconds,

Something like that, I suck at EO and 2nd block, sometimes I forget to speed up for finishing F2L and LL.

With a little bit of pratice you can easily do a sub 10 on a Petrus because you can perform a 1 Look LL.

Even the F2L only uses R and U which would speed up the solves.

Ropekadukar :p

By the way, I'd have to agree with what qqwref said about whatever you said. BS.

How can you perform 1 Look LL? Using normal Petrus, you need to orient the corners and then permute the corners+edges;right?

( MGLS takes about the same time to execute as normal 2LLL and other methods require lots of algs, which in turn would require quite a lot of practise to get really good recognition and execution)?

And the block-building (2x2x2,2x2x3) aren't all R,U's and would take

i think that he meant that if you learn ZBLL then you can do one look LL. which is a little silly - the only real difference between ZBLL in fridrich and petrus is that the EO stage for petrus is earlier...
more likely is that he just doesn't know what he's talking about.

More accurately, the difference is that Petrus *has* an EO stage. If you want to use ZBLL, just use it, there's no need to modify the F2L in any way. But if you want 1-look LL for Fridrich, you have to add an EO step somewhere, like ZBF2L, VHF2L, etc. (or memorize full 1-look LL). ZBLL is much better suited for methods that naturally orient edges before getting to LL.

heh, i thought you, stefan or lucas would add something to that ;)

and i completely agree with your point about ZBLL - if you used it with ZZ, for example, its potential would be (closer to being) realised. i still think that last slot techniques like MGLS and winter variation have more 'practicability', whether or not they are 'faster' than ZBF2l/LL...
