Petrus Method for Big Cubes — Step-by-Step Guide from 4×4 to 20×20

Hello guys whats up!

Today is my birthday (26/11) and today was my computer networks lab exam as well as advance dsa quiz and both went good. So in happiness and enjoyment i solved 20 by 20 using yau with half center technique. And i am surprised i solved it under 3 hours, because my timing in 20 by 20 before was above 4 hours but sub 5 hours using reduction method.

Soon i will be uploading more solves in youtube, till 20 by 20 line wise, I have created 3 playlists in youtube,1. Petrus method walkthrough solves in big cubes, 2. Reduction method solves in big cubes and 3. yau with half centers. Right now my focus is to fill up the playlists and make it interesting for you guys, then i will share all the playlists in reddit and here also, so that you guys can explore, and enjoy my solves.
i will keep uploading the videos, and then the link.

Also guys tell me one thing, i know there are very less people who actually see full big cube solves for understanding and learning, but big cubes are also very satisfying to solve i am thinking to upload solves in fast forward 3 x, but i think the quality will drop, i am confused.

Thank you and Happy cubing!

Oops, happy late birthday! That birthday is very... idk how to describe it... for reasons you may or may not know.

6 by 6 Example solve (using Petrus method)-

Hello guys whats up!

Another walkthrough solve of 6 by 6 using petrus method.

I want to ask one thing, when i solve last 2 edges using an OLL algo, so it is very inefficient in big cubes there are lot of inner slice moves that i have to perform, also i execute it randomly again and again i mean i know how it works but it is very frustrating in big cubes, is there any other efficient way to solve last two edges?

EAC Method (Edge Anchored Centers) for big cubes-
Method proposed by: Shridarshan Mishra

Hello everyone!

Ever thought big cubes could be solved with no algorithms except the final 3 by 3 stage?

Well here it is.

I’ve been experimenting a lot with big-cube solving and ended up creating my own method called EAC – Edge-Anchored Centers.
It’s completely different from Reduction or Yau because the solve starts with edges first, not centers.

No commutators, no flipping algos, the cube actually grows inward from the edges, instead of the usual inside out approach.

Quick idea of the method:

Build 4 F2L pairs with zero centers done

Create two 3×4 blocks using edge–center attachments (Roux style)

Attach center pieces to edges and then insert them

Finish the last cross edge by attaching the center pieces with it then last 4 edges on top layer.

Solve the final 3×3 stage

More detailed explanation is available in my YouTube playlist and inside my video descriptions.

This is not a speedsolving method it has a lot of slice moves, lets see how this method looks in more larger cubes.

I will upload more examples of this method on multiple cube sizes.

Happy cubing!

Hmm sounds like F3L...

Hmm sounds like F3L...
yes it has a similar feel to F3L because a lot of structure is solved early, but EAC is different-
F2L pairs are made first without centers
blocks are build using edge anchoring then
centers form automatically or i say naturally.

yesterday i was trying to do roux logically in 4 by 4 then i suddenly come up with this idea that what if i combine it with petrus blockbuilding approach and then tried again and again, it worked then i named it as EAC approach.
I also tried to apply it in 6 by 6 and 7 by 7 a bit confusing but it worked, but there are lot of slice moves in this method.

But i think it is better than layer by layer method, no edge and center commutators.

Petrus method on 11 by 11 (example solve)

Hello guys whats up!

I tried 11 by 11 by Petrus method good thing is that my time is ok ok but this solve is not very efficient there are lots of unnecessary moves and mis turns as you can see in my solve, my aim is not to score the best time but to aim for a perfect and efficient solve.

In this solve time is descent one min more than 10 by 10 petrus solve i was expecting more, but solve is bad, i mean in 10 by 10 petrus method example solve there are total of 3281 moves and in 11 by 11 there are 3294 moves, I think i can solve 11 by 11 more efficiently under 3000 moves, I am definitely going for second attempt where i will not focus on time but on efficient moves.

Link:

I will share 11 by 11 second attempt soon by Petrus method.

Thank you

11 BY 11 SECOND ATTEMPT- (Using Petrus method)

Hello guys this is what i am talking about, solved 11 by 11 in 2572 moves using Petrus method.

And from this i conclude that i do a lot of random and inefficient turns also if i can solve a 11 by 11 in 2572 moves then i can definitely solve 10 by 10 under 2572 moves.

12×12 Example solve (Petrus method) -

Here is the walkthrough solve of 12 by 12 using petrus method, blockbuilding concepts.

As the cube size increasing, it is getting more frustrating.

But let's see how far this goes.
Also next time I will upload solves in parts.

13 × 13 Small (Time and Move count) Analysis.

I have solved 13 by 13 two times, using Petrus method.

For First solve i have already uploaded a video in youtube, which was a very bad solve.

Here attached the screenshot-

First Solve-
IMG_20260427_171922.jpg

Time- 1:11:14.90
Move count- 4676

Second Solve-
IMG_20260427_171934.jpg

Time- 1:04:57.64
Move count- 5340

In second solve i was clearly moving faster, but i also used a lot of moves.

Focusing on time will lead to more move count and if i focus on efficiency and less move count my time will increases.

It's really cool to compare solves.

13 by 13 walkthrough solve using Petrus method- (New PB 1 hour 5 min)

Hi Viewers!

Here is the second attempt of 13 by 13 and made a new time.
As first attempt was not that good, second attempt is lot better but inefficient in move count.

Here aattached the videos for both the parts.
