What would be considered lucky for the centres and edges? I was looking at my replays and also Michael's replays. Is it lucky to have 1 edge already fixed after the centres o the 4x4, and is it also lucky to have one wing already fixed for the 5x5x5?

Here's a more complicated question: With 2 at a time edge methods, you fix 12 edges on the 4x4 and 24 wings on the 5x5, so assuming that no edges are fixed after the centres, you would pair up 6 times (4x4x4) and 12 times (5x5x5) on average. Would pairing up 5 times and 11 times be considered lucky?

I don't think skipping only 1 edge significant enough to be lucky.

Speedcubing.com:
A lucky record is any solve of a puzzle where a step of your normal solution is skipped.
There are three exceptions:
1) You worked for it, f.i. by anticipating the next step.
2) The chance to skip the step is 20 percent or more.
3) The skipped step represents 3 percent or less of the total moves of the complete solution.
Example: if you use the cross/F2L/OLL/PLL system, then there are 7 steps, and skipping one of the steps would be a lucky case.

I solve all 12 edge on the 4x4 in about 40 moves so that's less than 4 moves on average for 1 edge and a total is usually maybe 130, so that's less than 3 percent.

if you skip the pll on a 7x7x7, does that mean it's not lucky?
it's less then 3 percent

If you read the "rules" above you, you can see that skipping a step is considered lucky. So if you consider PLL a step on 7x7x7 then skipping it is lucky

But it listed the exception that if the skipped step is less than 3% of the total move count, then it isn't lucky...

PLL is about 15 moves. I think I use less then 500 (15*100/3) moves on a normal 7x7x7 solve

After finishing centers I always have 12 edges already fixed on the 4^3, or 24 wings already fixed on the 5^3, and I don't consider that lucky :p

And you shouldn't. You should consider it "alternative"

Just a thought ironically, if you had a PLL skip on a 4x4 or even 7x7 that would be super lucky wouldn't it? As the chance is so small its insanely rare!

With PLL-skip we mean PLL-skip after having solved centers and paired edges.

Chances on a 4x4x4 are smaller than on a 3x3x3 because of parity

Chances on a 7x7x7 are the same as on a 3x3x3

I once got a full LL skip on my 7x7

but 24 minutes and 32 seconds with skip and 24.50 without doesn't really matter does it? (I'm ultra bad on big cubes)

I'm still waiting for a full LL skip on 3x3

I had my first and only last layer skip on a 6x6x6 solve. It was one of my worst solves ever because of POP's and for the skip I had to use edge-control and OLL-Parity. Time was over 10 minutes while I am normally sub 5.
