So I just magnetised a gans 356 air, and I will be going overseas in a few weeks time and want to bring it on board my flight. I have been reading the baggage restrictions of my country's airlines (Singapore), and its said that magnetic materials are prohibited. Not even allowed in check in luggage!
The magnets I used in my cube are the n35 neodymium ones, and they pretty much do not attract anything outside of the cube.
What I am asking is if anyone has experience in bringing magnetic cubes onboard planes without the authorities confiscating it, either in carry-on or check-in luggage. Would be even better if you are from Singapore too and brought these cubes overseas
:)

By the way, I know there is a thread about cubes in an airplane, but that was in 2009 and magnetic cubes weren't a thing back then. I dont wish to necro that thread again.

I've carried 10,000+ magnets with a garbage bag full of pieces and a rag doused with gasoline.

I've also flown all over with magnetic cubes with no issues.
Domestic, International, checked, carry-on, etc etc.
No issues whatsoever!

However, try to carry a microphone with tangled wires, and it's a bomb check

I am also from Singapore, and I don't have any problems on bringing magnetic cubes abroad and back. I have brought my Gan 356 Air UM, Valk M, WuQue M, Moyu Magnetic Skewb and Pyraminx, Weilong GTS2M Lite, basically any magnetic cube you can think of, all in one hand-carry bag. I had no problems. Maybe you had bad luck that day.

I'm also VERY scared that my cube will be taken away. $45.00 for a GAN 356 AIR UM?! bruh.. But I'm going overseas soon on a small trip and also want to bring a cube lol. I'm just afraid the magnets would look weird on the security screen and the lube might be a problem.

I think the best is that you check-in the magnetic cubes and bring a non-magnetic cube with you on the plane.

I have emailed TSA about the problem, and it seems like you can! If the security guards think it is a bomb threat, they have the right to take it away or confiscate it. In general, magnets are allowed on a plane, (dried up lube, too...) and if you don't believe me, go to tsa.gov and see for yourself. Lube can't be brought I guess.

I think it will be okay because if you look think about how many people took flights to nationals and worlds and a lot of people had magnetic cubes so i think you will be alright.

I am currently travelling over seas at the moment from Canada, and I've had no troubles going through "luggage checks" with my magnetic cubes inside of my luggage in Canada.

I have been stopped when they saw my megaminx on a scanner but it should be fine. given that however many thousand cubes have been transported to worlds i really don;t think there should be an issue.

I was traveling to Europe, and they had to take me into a room when my bag was scanned. The guy started looking around in my bag, and he eventually opened my bag of cubes. He just said "oh" and let me go. should be fine.
