Magnetic cubes at airplanes

If it shows up on the x-Ray, explain its a Rubik's cube. If you have too you can take it out and show them.

I wouldn't cube much anyway, as it could be quite noisy and annoying.

NOTE: I don't know that much about the TSA, but I can't imagine that'd be a problem.

you can't take the magnets apart, apparently chris uses some type of expanding foam or something, pretty hard to get out

Every plane I've ever been on was loud enough that a Rubik's cube wouldn't be noticeable.

As far as magnets and the TSA I would think they would be more worried about wires. The magnets in a cube are probably no bigger than the magnets in a good set of headphones. You could probably email the TSA and ask if you want to be sure. It would be a nice change for the person sorting emails to find one that isn't a rant about some unjustly seized fingernail clippers or chainsaws.

Regarding cubing on a plane, I've done it several times, most recently this morning. I sat just in front of the wing and the engine was so loud, I couldn't even hear my cube.

Regarding the magnets, no one said anything about my magnetic pyraminx this morning. Granted, its got fewer magnets than the magnetic 3x3s, and they're weaker (afaik). And if you have a big quality pair of headphones, the magnets in headphones are much bigger.
