I regularly post videos in the Older Cubers Discussion thread but rarely in the video forum but I also rarely get any 3x3 PBs on film.

Discussion in the older thread has been concentrated on turn speed last couple of days and @MarcelP made a good point. Us older brethren often take the wisdom of slowing down and looking ahead. But youngsters turn so much faster and need to slow to maintain look ahead from insane TPS levels. Surely it would just take practice for older cubers to hold onto look ahead even at our highest TPS.

So I have been practicing with higher TPS last day and getting great results. Culminating in this PB Ao5. I did already have 3 averages under 13s but best before this was 12.91.

Thanks Marcel, a great inspiration as always mate.

Oh, and forget solve 4 ever existed!!...

Thanks @MarcelP and @Shaky Hands

There has been a pattern recently of three 12.xy solves in a row followed by a lack of concentration and two bad ones. Will be working on not looking at the average Marcel. The 4th was awful and happy I managed to concentrate to get the 5th.

@Anthony - Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated ... and yes, I started on Blue 'face' in 1981 and though I only learned CFOP 6 years ago it would have been wrong to switch. Feels right solving on blue on the Valk too :D

@Chree - Being regular in the older thread, thanks goes to you as others for the motivation. Will keep it going. Almost see @Ron in my sights. I did say almost. My main mentor is all but un-catchable :D

Excellent work, I know exactly what you mean about getting a horrible solve after several amazing ones, it happens to me as well. You're very close to the 40+ 3x3 world record of 12.62 by Bucher. I too am chasing that 'record' (I'm 41), but you are much closer and will get there first. I do get occasional sub 12 solves (using LMCF method) but not nearly as consistently as you do. Keep up the good work.

@efattah Thanks for the feedback Eric, appreciated.

12.62 is a figure I know very well. One of my own personal goals is to get an average below it. Not necessarily in comp but to get below at home. Unofficial WR is a different matter. I believe Ron has got close to sub 10 averages at home. Ron van Bruchem is not only an ambassador for the older cubing generation but but we wouldn't be attending comps and seeking goals as we do without him. He stands head and shoulders above other cubers 40+ and it is a pleasure to try and edge closer.

Competing against your piers is great and I love how the older solvers have the excellent forum in the Older Cubing Discussion thread on these forums started by Marcel years ago. I have got more motivation to improve from this source than any other.

@Logiqx (Mike) started a great project to try and track the official progression of 40+ solvers which can be found from here ( https://www.speedsolving.com/forum/threads/how-fast-are-the-over-40s-in-competitions.54128/ ) but this does reply on a manual process of knowing about the thread and being happy to divulge age etc, but I know there is an appetite to do age based reporting through the WCA (On an opt in basis) which would be simply awesome if it comes to fruition.

Your own progressions looks great. Feel free to drop by the oldies thread and join in the banter sir :D
